Most of this piece of *hit article by this *sshole Pilger is just a rant on Israel.
His remarks about Iraqi civilians show that he chooses to ignore the choices made by the Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein. It is he who has chosen to act in the way that brings pain to the Iraqi people. The embargo doesn't have to result in no humanitarian aid; that's his choice.
And the supposed Iraqi civilians killed by bombs? They were more likely killed by falling antiaircraft shells and missiles shot by the Iraqis. Lots of civilians in war zones have been killed in this manner - in Britain, in Germany, etc.
Let's make it clear: not all Islamic people hate America or are terrorists. I don't hate those that aren't our enemy, those that can live in peace with Jews and Israel. They don't deserve anything that might come their way.
But I will not stand for these Blame America/Blame Israel First articles that do not indicate the complicity of Arab/Islamic leaders, and the willing acquiesence of many people of that region. Would Americans be cheering in the streets if half of Bagdhad was leveled and thousands of innocents died? Did we cheer when we hit that Iraqi army bunker filled with civilians? No.
We will cheer when we hit those responsible for this attack and their supporters.
Next time he arrives at LAX, en route to a soft interview at NPR, let's hear the snap of the rubber gloves, and the click-click of the flashlight.....
. . . Barak's peace proposal, as Laor points out, was "the lying sales-talk of all those who marketed a shopping list for the Palestinians that offered them '90 per cent' of the West Bank: that is, 90 per cent of what would be left of it after Israel kept its expansion around Jerusalem, its military roads and bases, its settlements . . .Oh yes, how un-generous of the Israelis to offer a mere 90% (or 70% or even 40%) to a group whose only announced ambition for the past half century was to push all the Jews into the sea!
It would have been so much better if the Israelis had given Arafat exactly as much as his Arab brethren, the Jordanians and Egyptians gave him during the 19 years that they occupied the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza ... namely, nothing, not an inch of land. Heck, I wouldn't mind if Israel gave Arafat twice that!
The Iraqis intentionally locate their radar installations in populated areas.
So be it.
An estimated 200,000 Iraqis, according to the Health Education Trust, died during and in the immediate aftermath of the slaughter known as the Gulf war.
Oddly enough, killing people is what war is about. From our point, the only "bad" thing about this number is there weren't more killed.
At least a million civilians, half of them children, have since died in Iraq as a result of a medieval embargo imposed by the United States and Britain.
Probably a bogus statistic. We'll assume it's true for the sake of argument. So?
The Iraqis know how it is they can get it lifted. If they choose to keep it in place, why should be concerned?
In Pakistan and Afghanistan, the mujahedin, which gave birth to the fanatical Taliban, was largely the creation of the Central Intelligence Agency;
Since it's our responsibility, we should own up to it and put and end to him, then.
the enduring illegal occupation by Israel would have collapsed long a go were it not for American backing.
In the end, "illegal" is determined by the people who win the war and write the books about it.
Far from being the terrorists of the world, the Islamic peoples have been its vi ctims - that is, the victims of American fundamentalism, whose power, in all its forms, military, strategic and economic, is the greatest source of terrorism on earth.
ROTFLMAO :-)
Bartender! I'll take whatever it is that he's drinking!
I'm sorry, if I read any further, I'd hurt myself laughing at this...
Ya. Pretty pathetic little piece of propaganda. The problem with a crisis like Tuesdays' is that it brings the best people to the forefront, and the biggest assholes.
And the rest of us have to put up with it.
