I am not a Billy Ray Cyrus fan, but as I read this, the words of a song he sang came to mind.

"All gave some. Some gave all."

The firefighters, EMS and police gave all today. Now, we need to give some to help the families of those that gave all!

It's horrible that it takes a tragedy of this magnitude to remind us all of how brave and selfless these men and women working in Emergency Services really are. Even the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief are missing and presumed dead.

An early AM East Coast bump.

There will probably be specific trust funds established for fire, police, EMS, and military families in next few days. Also, there may be a more general fund for all victims.

People may want to hold some of their money in reserve to contribute to such funds when those are established.

"All gave some. Some gave all."

Great way to summarize the contributions of the heroes.

Anyone know if the songwriter of that song came up with that phrase or if that phrase originated elsewhere and was incorporated into the song?

Thanks also for the citations to other funds set up to help!

I think Billy Ray Cyrus wrote the song. It was about Viet Nam but that one simple line speaks volumes today.

Absolutely right. It is a great expression, very appropriate to the sacrifices of the police, fire fighters, EMS, and military in these horrible events.

But did Cyrus originate the actual expression? I think the expression "Wind beneath my wings" predates the song that uses it. Clearly, "Another One Bites the Dust" was a known expression long before the song with that title.
