Kmart Corp. temporarily removed ammunition and firearms from its stores nationwide on Tuesday in the wake of attacks in New York and Washington, the company said.

Spokeswoman Julie Fracker said the decision was made Tuesday morning.

"The safety of our customers and our associates is our first priority," the company said in a statement. "Kmart extends its deepest sympathies to the people affected by today's tragic incident."

That's their story. It's not a federal conspiracy. Just Kmart.

Oh, yes- when there is the possibility of a domestic war is the best time to pull guns from the market.

What do you expect from a company that used Rosie as a spokesperson?

Thank God algore's not prez. By now we'd be under martial law with BATFinks going door-to-door confiscating private weapons.

I will never spend another dime in K-Mart. I have a long memory too. I don't buy from people like that.

Wonder if the authorities are worried Americans are going to riot and kill every muhammadan they can get their hands on when they realize the death toll? Has anyone else noticed that more than 12 hours later and there has been NO speculation in the media about how many have died? Whenever the question is asked at press conferences, authorities say it's too early to say. I think the toll will be staggering, and government is afraid American people will go ape-sh*t when they find out.

KMART, you suk.

Wwhat? You're on the internet tonight, and don't (yet) have something negative to say about Bush? But the night is still young.

K mart is using ny excuse they can to get out of the gun and ammo biz. Screw'em, their loss, not mine.

I went to Wally World specifically to check on the rumors and my question was answered by the customers at the counter buying ammo.

Fortunately, I don't need any at the moment.

This at a time when they should be adding guns and ammo to the shelves. An armed society is not only a polite society but also a relatively safe society.

That's OK Kmart, I have plenty of ammo . . . I'm counting it now!

That's strange, when things like this happen, I feel the need to clean my weapons and count my ammo.

Perhaps McDonalds will pull all plastic knives and replace them with Sporks or Foons to prevent plastic knife attacks.
