We know that moslems can declare a "Fatwa". Bin Laden and Arafat have promulgated and used terror, and killed innocent men, women, and children. If in fact their religion rejects such acts, when will a fatwa be declared against these vermin? Surely, their actions besmirch Islam to a far greater extent than did the novelist Salman Rushdie - who was rewarded with a death sentence in a fatwa.
Unless, of course, all of Islam doesn't really object to murderous terrorists....
He was defending Muslims from unfair attacks, but also suggested that they must do what you suggest. They must declare bin Laden and his ilk "infidels."
Maybe we will get an answer if this post lasts long enough.
This because they have read their koran and they know what it calls on them to do. While none muslims who claim that there are good muslims have not read the koran and only repeat what the libalrel media has told them.
Do yourself a favor read a koran even if you've never read you Bible or Torah, it's like a Mien Kamph in that it spells out what to do to none muslims. Know your enemy.
Also, while searching some Islamic sites, I found most of them that are updated frequently had messages in opposition of the acts this week, and I know many mosques (sp?) have held candle light vigils this week. Here is one web site I found with a message from a "renowned Muslim scholar": http://www.islamonline.net/English/News/2001-09/12/article25.shtml I have no idea how widespread these feelings are among the majority of Muslims, just posting to add some thoughts to the mix.
Anyway, I'm going to be trying to find out a bit more about Islam and the Quran (I took a history class on the Islamic world in college, but my knowledge is minimal and my memory fleeting), all I've heard so far are quotes, which may or may not be taken out of context from both sides of the issue. I'd like to research enough to make a strong opinion of my own. Keep the information flowing!
Be safe, and I have confidence everyone here is doing what they can to aid in the relief efforts right now.
How in the world is Illbay supposed to know that? Why not ask a prominent Muslim. Maybe write to Muhammad Ali and ask him.
"From that which is known to everyone who has the slightest bit of common sense is that hijacking airplanes and kidnapping children and the like are extremely great crimes, the world over. Their evil effects are far and wide, as is the great harm and inconvenience caused to the innocent; the total effect of which none can comprehend except Allaah.
Likewise, from that which is known is that these crimes are not specific to any particular country over and above another country, nor any specific group over and above another group, rather it encompasses the whole world.
There is no doubt about the effect of these crimes; so it is obligatory upon the governments and those responsible from amongst the scholars and other than them to afford these issues great concern, and to exert themselves as much as possible in ending this evil."
Here is another Fatwah issued by Shaykh ibn Jibreen, a respected Muslim scholar in Saudi Arabia.
"So there is no doubt that hijacking is a mistake, ignorance and falsehood. Further, it is a transgression beyond the limits causing terror to the passengers, and threatening them with that which they have no power to carry out, and Allaah knows best."
Shaykh Saalih al-Lahaydaan, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia and a head if the Islamic Judiciary issued a Fatwah on the terrorist attacks last Tuesday. He wrote,
"Killing a person who has not committed a crime is one of the major sins and terrible crimes... What happened in America is... undoubtedly a grave criminal act which Islaam does not approve of and no one should applaud..."
Satisfied?
Oops. That kind of honesty is not very sensitive. However, we ALL KNOW THE ANSWER, DON'T WE.
