A day late, but...
Last night's news carried this item. Some residents in Amherst, MA (Amherst College, Univ. of Massachusetts) are "furious" that the US flag has remained up after Labor Day. They consider the US flag a symbol of racism, imperialism, and evil, and have demanded that it be taken down. The matter has reached the selectmen and town manager for action.
In light of today's events, I think this item is particularly relevant, and says volumes about Amherst, MA, and the surrounding area.
So true! I question the hearts of people who *don't* fly their flag.
I take particular exception to that statement and demand that you retract it and apologize for it!
There are more than a few good people in this Commonwealth that are disgusted with the UN loving pukes in Amherst!
Your statement reveals a truly ignorant mind.
Retract it. Now!
Some people have absolutely no idea what it is to be American.
Perhaps, the 'City Fathers' and 'City Mothers' supporting this possition, could replace the Touist Guy and get their shose wet.
The a$$holes.
I'm saddened that our AMERICAN students are being taught by a twit who made her way to professorship through the American education system that allowed you to choose whatever field of study you wanted, through whatever American School you wanted. I guess the saying is really true. You can have a brain and understand one topic...but chances are you don't have a brain with common sense. Someday you'll thank God...Goddess...or lucky stars you live in a country that GIVES you the freedom to be a verbal idiot.
Thank God I don't have a doctorate or I'd have to be limited in my insight and judgment as you are.

If we had a declared war, certain actions in Amherst would be appropriate. They might be anyway, but the legal aspects would be far clearer, if we had a declared war.
Yes, I am suggesting prosecution. This ceases to be a free speech issue, when we are being stabbed in the back at home, once war has been declared. The free speech issue would go to their freedom to criticize the war effort. Their effort to take down the flag over a part of one of our constituent States, during a time of War is something quite different. That would be one of the objectives of the enemy, and if this is not giving aid and comfort to that enemy, just what is.
