We're in the same neck of the woods! I think the Westfield Mall was closed because of Boeing being right across the way, but maybe people are just spooked.
My aunt went to Cloth World a couple of hours ago to buy some materials for a dress she's making, and she said the place announced they were closing at five today because of the "national crisis." I suppose they figure that if Clinton could bomb an aspirin factory, terrorists could target a fabric store.

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has declared State of Emergency. Will re-open state offices tomorrow, Disney re-opens tomorrow, as will Courthouses, schools, etc. From what I heard around Ocala, Belleview area today, it is time for WAR!!
And Clinton is very responsible for this happening IMHO. If not for his panty-waist coddling of the Arabs/Palestinians along with the equal pressuring of Israel to knuckle under to those towel heads, those we lost just might be alive today.
I dare any Demorat to whine about the Palestinian problem just one more time. It's time to bomb them back into the time of Moses.

Dallas area - at least one local gun shop was PACKED with customers at around 1:30pm. Went down the street to Big K and there was a sign on the door that said "All sales of firearms and ammunition have been SUSPENDED." (Of course, we expected something like that from them.)

I live on the north shore of Staten Island, but work in Manhattan. As I work nights, I was asleep during today's carnage, but people in my neighborhood said they could hear the second plane hovering and they also could hear the explosion.
I can't explain how incredibly eerie it was today; I woke up late this morning to my clock radio talking about the World Trade Center, and I made a sleepy assumption it was some recap show about the bombings 8 years ago. Then I heard them say "reporting live", and I woke up into this nightmare.
Needless to say, the World Trade Center is *the* major part of the skyline that you can see from the island. After I heard about the reports, and checked my email (I had a ton of messages from friends and family members checking to see that I was OK) I went out this afternoon at about 1 p.m. to see what I could see. Due to buildings in front of the harbor, I had to walk about 1/4 of a mile before I could get a good view of the skyline. But I could see the smoke in the sky before I saw the carnage. I can't explain how astonishing it looked to see a plume of smoke where the World Trade Center used to be, especially since I hadn't seen any video or pictures of the action yet. The police were out directing traffic, which is something you never see in this sleepy little borough. I saw five fire trucks go by with their sirens blaring. People were oddly calm -- stunned, more than anything.
Don't know when I'll be back at work, as there's no way to get into Manhattan right now. These events are just an unbelievable horror.
