One of the World Trade Center Towers collpases after being struck earlier by a terrorsit attack using a hijacked airliner.

Within the half hour, the second building also collapsed as hundreds of fire fighters and emergency workers crowded in to help the victims of the 1st collpase.

Amen brother, may we all spend many hours on our knees in supplication for those who have died, those who are injured, those wh are valiently working to help the injured and for all of their families.

... and for our nation as we face the grave realities of these circumstances. I fear a dark period has been ushered in and that things will scarecely ever be the same for us or our children. May we have the strength to see the course and to preserve liberty.

Let's also hope that the federal "law enforcement" apparat is not the first responder to this. There will be enormous pressure on Bush to send inadequate forces to "arrest" those responsible, and to bring them before some contrived, internationalist "court".

As others have pointed out, this is, finally, war-and although we no longer have a War Department, their successors are the proper people to deal with this.

BTW: Did you notice how the anchors just kept on babbling on-and-on well after the first tower had completely collapsed? They didn't even bother looking at their monitors! Finally, Peter Jennings, when they ran a re-play said something like "Oh my God!" But that was well after the tower had completely collapsed. Same on the other channels. Amazing.

ALSO: Did you hear mentioned on the news that Yasser Arafat has sent his concerns? That guy needs to be #1 on the list for immediate termination. Why has he been suffered to live so long? And, we should forthwith sink his base of operations 90 miles off the Florida coast. Encircle the island with U.S. ships, give all inhabitants 24 hours to swim or float out on U.S. supplied inflatable rafts that we will blanket airdrop, and then do a non-nuclear BIKINI job on the island using B-52s and Tomahawks - and let Saddam, Bin-Laden, and the rest of the ragheaded rabble know they are next.

Amen. These are a abject and blatant acts of war as can be imagined.

The groups and ANY nation who has abetted them need to be made a horrific example of if we have any hopes in living in a free and open society after such attacks.

We need to insure that that is our focus IMHO.

PPaul and Hobb you need to think this thing through more carefully. We have already killed many more than these terrorists have killed so we are merely reaping what we have sown in Iraq and Serbia. An eye for an eye just makes everyone blind. Time to rethink our role in the world. This is the end of American Empire can't you see that? Time to get back to the affairs of the Republic and get our big nose out from where it does not belong.

If it starts getting pointed at the Arab world, the question becomes: who has something to gain from getting the US entangled in a major war in the Arab side of the world?
