September 13, 2001: A caravan of ambulances moving very slowly, toward the morgue at Roosevelt Hospital.

Wow... how awful.

Of course I don't live in NYC, but I remember being in mid-town around St. Patrick's Cathedral after 9/11/01 a couple of times. Seemed like every day, there was a funeral for a member of the FDNY or NYPD. Black shrouds at every fire house, American flags taped to every shop and apartment window, posters of the missing everywhere... Unreal.

We visited in May of 2002 because I had read that the cleanup was finished and the rebuilding would start soon. So I wanted to see the site while I still had a chance. I said that was how I wanted to spend my Mothers’ Day.

I new that I would feel sad, but I could not have forseen just how emotional it all was for me as I looked at the many, many messages for the lost lives. I am tearing up now thinking again what it must have been like for all of the families who lost loved ones.

My blood is boiling again.

Never forget!
