JANET RENO BAYLOR UNIVERSITY PROTEST - Thread III
Ms. AntiFeminazi, basil, tillacum and husband, TRTman | September 10, 2001 | Ms. AntiFeminazi

Posted on 09/10/2001 7:29:52 PM PDT by Ms. AntiFeminazi

Okay people - time to take action!

On Wednesday, September 5, basil, Ms. AntiFeminazi, tillacum, Mr. tillacum, and a local TRT member met in Waco to scope out the logistics of the upcoming protest of Janet Reno who has been invited BY BAYLOR UNIVERSITY to speak on ETHICS IN GOVERNMENT on Thursday, September 13, 2001.

There was much discussion about where we should park ourselves to get the most visibility by Ms. Reno. We drove out to the airport and decided that is NOT a good idea. The airport is very far from campus and is difficult to find. We would have to know Ms. Reno's exact schedule to get any kind of visibility and we have been unable to get even a hint of her schedule so far. We also agreed that Baylor needs to see us as well since they are the ones who so graciously extended this invitation to Ms. Reno above requests from the citizens of Waco that she not be invited.

Meeting place:
We decided that a good meeting place for us is at a public park directly behind the

Texas Rangers Hall of Fame Museum
100 Texas Ranger Trail
Waco, Texas 76706
on Interstate-35, Exit 335-B

This is on the outer edge (outside) of the Baylor campus and we can walk to the 2 facilities she'll be speaking in from there. We didn't get a chance to see if they have BBQ grills, but we can bring our own and cook hotdogs or hamburgers. One of us will follow up in a later e-mail with a map and directions.

Protest position:
Reno speaks at 2:00 p.m. in Waco Hall to the students (we believe - more details on this later) and then at 7:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center - Get tickets here Where we will actually stand to protest will be included in a detailed message I'll send out later. I need to talk to someone I know about our best advantage with or without police assistance before we decide on our final place to stand.

Publicity, Talking Points, and the Media:
We need to spread the word and invite to join us in this protest any and everyone we know who may be associated with conservative groups. The more conservative groups represented, the bolder our statement that this is much bigger than just a Freep or local Waco protest - this is a national protest by many diverse groups who all see the abuse of our freedom that Janet Reno shoved on our country.

Talking points:
* 2nd Amendment - Waco
* 4th Amendment - Waco, Elian
* refusing to investigate Chinese espionage - Los Alamos,Budhist temple,JohnHuang
* Florida Governor's race

Media:
We should have something prepared for the media. A typed report to hand newspapers or notes for reporters. We should also designate a spokesperson(s) for the group. I know I am not a good person to be speaking to the media, so someone with more experience would be good.

Protest Props:
T-shirt:
Freeper abner has been generous to produce some T-shirts at Freeper cost for those who want buy them. There is limited supply, so contact basil via Freepmail if you want one. They are convict orange with "Parolee Former Clinton D.O.J. U.S. Attorney" on the front and "Community Service Litter Patrol" on the back. They are $7 each and come in X-large (I believe).

Plastic firehats:
Someone has purchased plastic firehats for us to wear. I don't know who, but we can get them at the park before the protest.

Individuals Killed by ATF/FBI in Waco:
We would like to have a cross or something to hold with the name of each individual who died on it for physical representation of the deceased. I believe there were 82 people killed. We need a list of those people and someone to organize getting the crosses prepared. Anymouse would you like to do that?

Signs:
The H.O.T. chapter will be having a sign-making party on Saturday, tomorrow - September 8. Please contact Gracey? if you wish to participate. Forward any suggestions you may have for sign mottos to Gracey? The only one I have I'm not sure I'm brave enough to use: Janet Reno - Timothy McVeigh in DRAG. lol.

Needs:
-List of 82 who died
-poster sayings
-an article tastefully written to hand to newspapers
-talking point notes for reporters
-flyers with the 82 listed and a brief history of what really happened at Waco
-pins, bumper stickers, business cards

Please reply to this thread with any comments, suggestions, or questions. ANY and ALL suggestions are welcome as well as any additions to the list above.

Great map of the campus. The Ferrell Center is #71.

Anyway we can work it so we can return to FR after checking out the map?

I lived in Waco during the stand-off and the local newspaper is a liberal rag. I wouldn't waste too much time on a press release to them. Wish I still lived there so I could join you!

Only 25 Freepers??? But we'll have lots of company. Here's an e-mail I just received from the YCT. I've deleted names and phone numbers.

News Advisory: Groups to Protest Reno Lecture in Waco and Conduct Counterinformation Campaign September 10, 2001

Waco, TX – Today, the Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) and the Citizens Organization for Public Safety (COPS) announced their plans to stage a counterinformation campaign and protest in response to Former Attorney General and Florida gubernatorial candidate Janet Reno’s speech on Thursday, September 13 at Baylor University in Waco.

On Wednesday, September 12, YCT and COPS will hold a teach-in at the Kaiser Auditorium in the Hankamer Business School on the Baylor campus. Beginning at 7:30 pm, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Mike McNulty’s “Waco: A New Revelation” will be screened. It will be followed by a question and answer session and the screening of McNulty’s short film “Flir Project” that focuses on whether government agents fired on Branch Davidians as they tried to leave the compound. More information about these films is available at http://www.fliirproject.com and http://www.waco-anewrevelation.com.

Among those appearing at the teach-in will be McNulty, surviving Branch Davidians, and retired Texas Ranger Captain David Burns, who conducted the Texas Rangers’ Waco investigation. Some of these individuals are expected to make remarks.

The following evening YCT and COPS will be protesting outside the Ferrell Center where Reno is lecturing at 7:30. More details about this peaceful demonstration will be released shortly. The protest will be held outside the arena and Reno's lecture will not be disrupted by YCT and COPS members.

Speaking on behalf of COPS, McNulty stated, “While Reno may hope to gain politically from using this lecture as an attempt to put behind her the tragic and deadly 1993 raid she ordered, we will not let the truth be a casualty of Ms. Reno’s political ambition. That is why the Citizens Organization for Public Safety and the Young Conservatives of Texas have joined together in an educational campaign to bear witness and make sure that history is not rewritten."

McNulty continued, “We are holding this teach-in to share our understanding of the truth of these tragic events. Our hope is that, after this presentation, people will be able to ask intelligent questions of Ms. Reno on the following night. Therefore, we invite all of those interested in the history of the Waco tragedy and Ms. Reno's role in it to attend the teach-in."

YCT State Chairman Chris Allen added, “The Waco tragedy stands as one of the most outrageous law enforcement abuses in American history and we hope Ms. Reno will finally answer for it Thursday evening. Many Americans forget that most of the Branch Davidians were not guilty of any crimes and were simply exercising their constitutional right to bear arms. The Davidians never hurt anyone else or even threatened to do so and government allegations of child abuse inside the compound were never proven. We are using Reno’s lecture as an opportunity to inform the Baylor community about such facts.”

YCT State Vice Chairman Marc Levin noted, “Janet Reno is hell-bent on taking away the guns of law-abiding Americans. She has stated:

"The most effective means of fighting crime in the United States is to outlaw the possession of any type of firearm by the civilian populace." Reno Speech at a B' nai B'rith meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1991. Source: "Weekend Warriors," by Alan W. Bock, National Review, May 29, 1995, page 40.

Levin continued, “Ms. Reno needs to familiarize herself with the research by Professor John Lott showing that legal gun ownership deters crime. YCT would like to warn Ms. Reno that Texas is a concealed carry state and that the overwhelming majority of Texans do not want gun-grabbers like her to take away their firearms.”

Directions to the Hankamer Business School and the Ferrell Center can be obtained by calling Baylor University at 1-800-BAYLORU. Reno’s lecture is part of an official speakers series sponsored by Baylor University. According to the University's website, Reno will discuss "public service and the Branch Davidian standoff." Baylor, which is a non-profit institution, invited Reno before announcing her candidacy, but has extended no similar invitation to Jeb Bush.

YCT is a non-partisan, statewide organization composed of college students and senior advisors committed to limited government and traditional values. YCT has chapters at Baylor University, the University of Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech. *****************************************************************

"The film every American needs to see."

THE VILLAGE VOICE
". . . . it ought to air on national TV. Politicians and entertainment industry moguls who babble on about violence should see the real stuff."

What bums me out about this is that Janet Reno is REALLY in Waco to get campaign funding from my mother in law's boss and family friend Bernard Rapoport. He's a good guy but he keeps bank rolling some scummy people. I've never understood how ethical and moral people can support evil like the Renos of the world.

He says that its just "business".

Just business... must be Democrat business, only????

Thanks for letting us know the REAL reason she's coming. I read somewhere that Janet Reno actually invited herself to Baylor. Then Baylor President & others got input from the Chamber of Commerce and other community leaders before "accepting" her invitation. Think there's any truth to this???

Any chance you can come to the protest? You'd have a place to stay :-)

Say, I like your homepage writeup. We have several interests in common.

He made his fortune selling life insurance to trade unions so I can see how supporting demoncrats would furthur his business goals. Of course now that he is no longer in that line of work I'd hoped that he would stop funding socialists. He hasn't.

I guess he's in pretty deep with them after all the Clinton junk... he wrote Clinton's apology for the Monica situation and gave old Webb 600 grand to stay on the farm. The stories I could tell... but can't.... Outside of politics he really is a good guy ... as are some of the demoncrats I've met... not many... but a few.... Ann Richards IS NOT one of them.

As for coming to the Waco Protest, I can't. My mother in law would kill me as would my brother who's working on a deal with Mr. B. At least I got to go to the Dimpled Chad protest/support rally at the Gov Mansion during the election mess...

Any chance that you can arrange to tip of the FReepers on scene so they can photograph Reno stopping by this guy's home or business to pick up the check? Don't think there are any media stringers with cahones to get this Pulitzer Prize winning photo.

Caption "Reno Comes to Waco to Collect Blood Money."
