Hoffa Aide Refuses To Take FBI Polygraph Test, Lawyer Says

DETROIT - The FBI tried during the weekend to convince Charles "Chuckie" O'Brien to take a lie-detector test regarding the disappearance of former Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa, according to a letter that O'Brien's lawyer said came from the agent.

William Bufalino said O'Brien received the letter Sunday from agent Andrew Sluss, who also wrote to O'Brien five years ago and said he didn't consider him a suspect in the case.

The guy has 2 choices. 1-Give the FBI what they want and get a new identity or 2-End up among the dead or missing.

O'Brien is not a person I respect, but anyone who takes an FBI polygraph is a fool. The FBI has been caught red-handed too many times concealing and/or manipulating evidence, and polygraph results are the easiest in the world to fudge.

I can understand him not wanting to take a polygragh.I know there are some here that will say if has nothing to hide he should take one.I underwent a polygragh test by the US guvmint,I had nothing to hide,but I tell ya what,it's not so he can clear his name it's to badger him with question like,the test was inconclusive,doesn't show you was completley truthful etc.....than ask more questions phrased differantly,this after they ask you to write down all eventful things that went on in your entire life.No one is going to disclose everything they have done in thier entire life,another question they ask is,have you ever been dishonest,have you ever broken the law,then you have to explain any misdeeds you think you might have done,get it off your chest then they ask you the same question again,over and over and over.Never and I mean never agree to a polygragh ever,it will only be used against you,never in your behalf,thank goodness I was cleared by other evidence.

Yeah, they're so unreliable they're not admissable as evidence; Interpol and other nonAmerican police agencies regard them as mere parlor toys-but it's perfectly OK for police to tell reporters,"So and so refused to take a polygraph test", and for the reporters to blazon that as the headline-to give the impression that 'so and so' must be guilty! I'm not thinking so much of this case as I am all the hundreds of other times I've seen cops and reporters collude like this, since they know the average sheep thinks the polygraph literally "detects lies" and is infallable, and that if a person refuses to take one, it can only mean s/he's lying.

The letter apologized to O'Brien for the DNA information being made public, saying, "I promised you this wouldn't happen, someone, somewhere is responsible. I'm sorry."

This is funny stuff. You just can't make this up.

Someone's responsible, but apparently not Sluss. He's not responsible; he's just sorry. Meanwhile, the search for someone responsible continues.

I'm less concerned about their inability to find things than I am about their ability to find even the non-existent when it suits their purposes. . . . . . then to find prople willing to swear to it in court.

If they want to find DoughtyOne's fingerprints on a murder weapon DoughtyOne has never seen, they will find 'em.

Polygraphs are useless. They are pure junk science. They are however frequently effective because the subjects do not know that they are unreliable, so they often fess up when prodded by the polygraph examiner.
