[history]
TALLAHASSEE - Her high-profile name and ability to attract eager campaign contributors should make former U.S. attorney general Janet Reno a formidable candidate for Florida governor. But she lacks a prerequisite - the full endorsement from her own Democratic party. Reno ended speculation about her political future last week by opening a campaign account for the governor's office, a first step toward seeking an elected post in the Sunshine State.

Well,we do a little "welcoming" party planned for her when she returns to the scene of her crime in Waco this Thursday. Maybe she will try a little of her "stump magic" with us--LOL!

Democrats desperately want a candidate who can defeat Bush as political payback for his older brother's White House victory last year in Florida. But they are anxiously waiting for the strongest candidate to emerge before unfolding their wallets. I will be shocked, shocked, I tell you, if there is anything contributed from outside the state since the Democrat party is so concerned about campaign finance reform.

I'm so excited about old Janet running - I must just switch to DNC so I can vote in the primary!! Then I'll be sure to send her a $1.00 for her campaign too! Of course before the real election, I'd have to switch back to GOP so I can re-elect Jeb Bush BY A LANDSLIDE!! Bring it on Janet - you and all your DNC/CLINTON/MCAULIFFE/WACO/FOSTER/ETC/ETC/ baggage!

"There's still tremendous anger within political sectors in Florida because of the 2000 (election) result," Sabato said. .... -snip- ....
In a state still haunted by hanging chads and butterfly ballots, Reno enters the race with her own baggage. Conservatives opposed her raid in Waco while Cubans still fume over the federal government's seizure of young refugee Elian Gonzales."
You bet there is still a lot of anger about that election. We'll never get over that 5 week nightmare orchestrated by Gore and his band of thugs. It was a wake up call, it energized us, we are not likely to ever forget it. To say Conservatives opposed her raid in Waco doesn't even come close. We are unable to shake the memory of watching little children and their mothers being burned to death or of a terrified little Elian screaming in the face of an armed Reno raider. So, please, let her run and let her keep parroting how much she is doing for the children and to help women.

"who can defeat Bush as political payback . . ."
Once again, the false impression is created - despite the lack of any supporting evidence - that Jeb Bush somehow stole the Florida vote for his brother.

Does the word 'DUH' mean anything to anyone. Way to pronounce the last syllable of their state's name?

Actually, you should wait until after the general election. That way after you vote for Jeb (which you can do regardless of party registration), you can tell the exit pollers you are a registered Democrat. That will raise Jeb's apparent support among Democrats and confound the liberals!

Will the voters of FL remember the "Waco for the childrun" affair???? No, I think not. After the Elian and Waco deadly force authorized by Reno, it is difficult to understand how anyone could ever vote for that person. (Reno)

I just heard Jack Thompson on the Bob Dornan radio show(yeah, I know alot of you consider him kooky). He says don't underestimate this b**ch. She'll pull out all the stops and go real dirty, exposing anything on Jeb, real or imagined. He also feels she' could be the key to '04 Pres. election. Voter Fraud is her middle name. Lots of people in S. FLA. are beholden to her for their jobs in gov't. and play as dirty as she does.

"Sabato [a University of Virginia political science professor] said:
In the end, Florida's independent voters - who make up some 24 percent of the electorate - will determine the outcome of the governor's race."

Veronica, thanks for posting this article.
The best part of it was the above FACT:
INDEPENDENT VOTERS IN FL WILL DETERMINE THE OUTCOME OF THIS GOVERNOR'S RACE.
Best,

I just can't imagine what possessed Pete Peterson to ever become a Demonrat. Having served in the military and knowing how badly LBJ mismanaged the war, I just can't fathom his actions. Maybe someone out there can clue me in.

I, for one, am going to enjoy watching this feeding frenzy in Florida. The Democrats there will make the sharks look like little guppies. I am especially hoping to see Reno go down in flames, utterly and completely humiliated, never to be seen or heard from again.
