Gore put his faith in Erin Brockovich
London Times ^ | MONDAY SEPTEMBER 10 2001 | BY ROLAND WATSON

Posted on 09/09/2001 8:04:07 PM PDT by Jean S

AS AL GORE watched his White House dreams slowly disappear last year, he stunned his closest aides by trying to enlist the help of America’s most famous pushy single mother.

Few had heard of Erin Brockovich until Hollywood immortalised her role as the tireless leader of a successful grassroots compensation claim against a polluting power company. But with his hopes fading by the day, Mr Gore believed that Ms Brockovich’s success in her own David v Goliath battle could help to swing things his way. The Vice-President wanted her to fly from California to Florida and to go knocking on doors in Palm Beach County to uncover disgruntled voters who were blaming the bemusing layout of a ballot paper for “miscasting” their vote.

According to a forthcoming book, The Accidental President, by David Kaplan, about the 37 days it took to decide who had won Florida, Michael Whouley, Mr Gore’s chief political strategist, thought that it was a “really bad idea” and Ms Brockovich never turned up for her place in political history.

If you take away Dem fraud it was probably more within 3 million votes. I can't believe he can show his sorry face. "all i want is to count the votes, this will be a learning experience for the children".

Erin, Naomi, Karenna (is that Gore's daughters name),Babs, Rosie, Madonna, sounds like a winning team to me.

Yes Lawgirl, our beloved nation dodged a bullet when that affectless, narcissistic, and charmless moron Al Gore blew a sure thing.

I always laugh at how the supposedly low intelligence Bush (Yale undergraduate school, Harvard MBA, sucessful business man, outstanding Governor) outwitted the supposedly brilliant Gore (pot-addicted Divinity School flunk-out, semi-psychotic claims of inventions and achievements, "author" of sophomoric and imbecilic Earth in the Balance).

This is terribly frightening. In spite of all the favorable PR that Erin has received by traveling in Democrat circles (including C-SPAN last week), the bottom line is she's misrepresented facts on behalf of a 40% settlement stake of $300+ million for her crooked lawyer-boss Ed Masry.

The movie is a whitewash, as anyone who has researched it knows, both factually and in terms of the Brockovich-Masry relationship. Chromium 6 has never been proven to cause cancer when it is ingested in liquids, but only when airborne. The settlement was simply a business move on the part of PG&E to reduce their financial exposure to a potentially more-sympathetic jury. The jury awards were distributed to the "victims" based more on their favoritism to Brockovich than their injuries received.

Edward L. Masry himself was convicted of a felony ("Morningside" Case, Escondido Court, San Diego County, 1982) for attempted bribery of CA Lieutenant Governor Dymally in the late 70's, though it was later vacated due to alleged jury misconduct. Masry was also attorney to notorious Televangelist Dr. "Gene" Scott, and represented him when he tried to renege on a $23 million church purchase in Downtown LA with only $6 million in payments, in a bogus "lost deed" case that was thrown out of court (Church of the Open Door, Los Angeles County, 1987). No less than Brockovich's ex-husband and ex-boyfriend teamed up to present information that there was an ongoing Brockovich-Masry affair (despite Masry's being married) just last year.

So for Gore to even consider engaging Brockovich for a political move, without excluding her for the questionable actions and associations in her background, is enough to completely discredit Gore's ability to handle the responsibility of taking ethical actions to acquire office!

Yuck, if I had a name like "Erin Brockovich", I'd shoot myself. Her parents should have named her Ludmilla Flanagan.

I actually read all of "Earth in the balance". It was terrible. The only books I've ever read that were worse were "It takes a village" and "Mein Kampf". All three author's have a lot of similar political ideas.

Just think, Erin would have been invited to one of his "state dinners" had she helped and had he won! She would have been a hit with the low cut gown! (But, Bill would not have been there to enjoy the view!)

The word among insiders to Dr. Gene Scott is that Masry, who started his career in the 60's representing street-walkers in vice cases, would frequently visit the Mustang Ranch and would bring back women who were in his "special favor" to join Dr. Scott's organization. You might wonder perhaps, how Scott's longtime girlfriend (in whose name some of Scott's assets are held) got into that position, and you might wonder further why the "Brockovich" script has a traffic accident (explaining how Masry and Brockovich met) was admitted to have been relocated to Los Angeles from RENO, NEVADA. (Hmmm -- ask yourself, what would Erin and Masry have been doing there?)

And Algore continues to be -- well -- ALGORE!

Given what happened the last time Gore attempted to deliver a speech, he has been advised by the personal service tech on loan to him from his manufacturer (Cybertech Robotics) to avoid further public speaking engagements until AFTER the back-ordered new descronificator drive has been installed and tested.

Then again, everything Algore tried post-election turned out to be really bad ideas....they should have pursued this....it couldn't have hurt his credibility more than it was already....
