California Democrats Release REVISED State Assembly Redistricting Maps
California State Assembly ^ | September 9th, 2001 | Committee on Elections, Reapportionment and Constitutional Amendments

Posted on 09/09/2001 12:35:03 PM PDT by StoneColdGOP

Some minor changes and tweeking here and there. Nothing too dramatic or earth-shaking. Unless you live in my district (58), in which case whatever little strength we did have after a resonably decent first map a week ago has been SLICED AND DICED LIKE A TEENAGER IN A HORROR FILM.

These Democrats... I tell ya.

And of course, it's all done to protect the ultimate "community of interest", the Democrat incumbents.

Cool. Now you can print up the jagged outline of the district (58) and use it as a campaign/publicity prop to show how crooked (pun intended) Democrats can be.

Screaming about the abuse of power should make for great news clips that even die-hard Lefty's in the media won't be able to refuse to air.

Let's see the unnatural curves, twists, zigs, and zags of your new District plastered up on posters everywhere (perhaps with a pithy little saying such as "Congressman's incumbancy protection District 58")...

Well of course, ain't that the truth my friend. These maps illustrate that perfectly, as does the infighting amongst Berman and Sherman and some others over legislative seats and whose ambition will lead where. Sheesh!

You know the hell of it is that I actually ran for this seat last year before any of this and it was already a suicide campaign.

After seeing the first redistricting map of it last week I was ready to go at it again because it was actually winnable if the right cards were played.

But now my base is sliced into three and new territory that neither knows me or has anything in common has been added on, and instead of gaining 8% in GOP registration we gain 2%. Screw this...

And Republican incumbents too. I was reading the L.A Slimes liberal political analyst Sherry Bebitch Jeffe on their Opinion section's front page this morning and she attributed the plight of California's Republican Party to having endorsed Prop. 187 which she claimed alienated Latinos and to having the temerity not to recruit "diverse candidates with diverse messages" - in a word a lot of RINOs. She needs to be straightened out on two things here: first Latinos were Democratic to begin with and when Republicans started getting quishy about defending our borders and addressing the menance of illegal aliens and began pandering for ethnic votes they started losing their white base; and second the GOP has ran RINO moderate candidates for governor and U.S Senator in the last few election cycles and they were crushed. You would expect a liberal analyst to know better but duh.

We don't need liberals like Jeffe to tell us we'll be consigned to minority status for 10 years; we know that already. And we know what we believe and will maintain our conservative principles even in the face of adversity. Voters who like our message and are attracted to our party will come. What ain't broke doesn't have to be fixed. And I hope our party leaders know this and won't be so foolish as to turn the GOP into a carbon copy of the Democrats which is just the makeover Jeffe and the Democrats here are hoping will happen. In the meantime we lick our wounds regroup and fight to live another day. A lot of things can happen in the next decade so let's keep an eye out for opportunities.

Opportunities like photographs of scum Dems walking out of motel rooms with 17 year olds and a goat. We're watching all right. It'll be about the only way to knock one out.

I see a little reverse psychology in order for your district.

Since you know that we can't win in it no matter what, perhaps it's time for campaign posters that simply say: "All citizens of District 58 are hereby ORDERED and MANDATED to vote for Democratic candidate X, and FORBIDDEN and PROHIBITED from voting for any Republican."

Might as well have some fun messing with their lockstep herd mentality if a loss is assured anyway.

Besides, stunts like that are guaranteed to get press coverage.

What will the CONgress maps there look like.

I'm lucky here(Livingston County, MI is where I vote, not Lansing). I have three decent reps, and after redistricting, will still have three decent reps(Williams?(Gawd I hope so), Garcia, Rogers[Congress])

Whose is trouble there in Cal? Rohbacher? Drier?
