I was a normal kind of guy. I ate food went out for walks and even watched videos, eek! I took the wife shopping. Even talked to the wife once in awhile.
Then that fateful night of Nov 7th 2000. I had to go somewhere else to to watch the election results as I do not have Cable TV. I went to the pizza joint on rt 7 and then to my secret election watch hide out.(No one to interupt)
I wanted to watch Bush beat the socks off of Gore. I new it was going to be a great night. Little did I know I would never sleep that night or for the next 5 weeks.
It took me till the end of November to find out I was not alone. That there was a freerepublic.com.
Before I would tell people the truth and they all wouldn't have a clue or they thought, this boy is NUTS! It was a lonely life thinking Am I The Only One that sees what is going on with this country and what the liberal bias media and the leftist democrats were doing to it, let alone the Clintons and Reno.
Well to make the story short. I was watching the news and these great people were on TV saying get out of Cheneys house. There it was the sign said Freerepublic.com. I copied it down and ran to my computer. I typed it in and sure enough The NEW WORLD WAS RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!
I think what would my life be if there was not a FR. If the rest of you were not here. That was enough to make me sit up and take notice. What can I do to make sure FR is here forever. Then I found out all I had to do was support the place and along with 70,000 other members make FR home. That we could change the world from here and with hundreds of thousands of people stopping by everyday we could tell the whole world the truth.
I would not trade all of you fine FReepers for any other world.
My life has never been the same since I found www.freerepublic.com (What about yours?) Ok everyone has your life been the same since logging on to FR and what adventures have you had?
My story is much the same, found FR just before the 2000 election mess. It saved my sanity!! Since I'm a FL resident, I was very interested in the election results before 11/7 since all the media pundits were saying we would be the swing state. As I said, I found FR BEFORE election night - thank goodness. I was on the computer reading FR about the results on 11/7, hubby was watching TV. TV folks were reporting one result and I was reading something else on FR!!!!
FR is where I learned all the news about how the DemoRATS tried to steal the election - right down to the names of Gore thugs who put the plan into play before the polls closed. That was when I became an "internet activist". Through FR threads I found media & Congressional sites to blast emails. I regularly send articles, letters, etc. to Congress, WH, FBI, etc. One of these days my hubby expects "they" will come and take me away!! He says not to worry, they have computers in prison!!
The funny thing is this retired grandma used to be an unenlightened Democrat - then I learned the truth. It only took the election of Klinton for me to see the truth!! I may be registered with the GOP now, but because of the folks on FR I think I'm really an Independent -- what I REALLY care about is our country and our freedoms. If the GOP becomes too much like the DNC, then I would have to fight against them too.
What I really know is that FR and the wonderful writers and thinkers here have opened my eyes to what's important - the USA and freedom of it's people. THANK YOU JIMROB and Free Republic.
Since I discovered FR "late in life", I've gotten my education from so many such as AlamoGirl, MiaT, Dogbyte12, John Haung, etc., etc. The information they have found is faster than the national media (including FOXNEWS) and many times more accurate!!
As I mentioned, I'm retired, so when people ask me what I do I reply "I'm an internet political activist on FreeRepublic." Of course they ask what is FR --- then I try to educate them!!
I have huge respect for people who have belief.
Although there are more important things in my life than FreeRepulic, I appreciate your sincerity.
FreeRepublic is simply the BEST website I know of.
I was not too involved with politics - UNTIL THIS ELECTION. Once I saw the danger of a Gore presidency which would continue the downward spiral of corruption in government plus put in control a man who did not play by the rules and put himself above all other concerns, I was rudely awaken.
I had heard of FR from my husband and Drudge - but most comments when mentioned to others was "watch out for that place - a bunch of weirdo's and radicals" or "you'll get into some bad stuff there". I took this to mean fringe elements, militias, or tin-foil hat theorists.
I would come periodically but still was watching for those weirdo's. But during the election trama - I started coming to find the latest info - been here since.
Can't believe the Clintons didn't draw me here. What got me here was watching the attempted theft of an election by the Gore machine. That was when I realized what serious trouble our country was in. If one man could make a whole state give him special treatment after another had already won, if one man could get a state supreme court to interpret the law to allow him all that he wished, if a winner had to win an election 4 times and still have people lie and say he did not win - our country was at risk after all. Not in the future - but right now today.
What I have found here has been wonderful - great people, religious beliefs freely expressed, love of country and conservative values prominent and the exposure of the liberalism goals and lies - in addition, others to work with as we find ways to counter the problems in our country.
