Could not find a hotel room from the middle of South Dakota until the middle of MontanaSo, I'm not the only one to stumble into the middle of the Bike Rally.
In 1969, husband and I were moving back to the East Coast from California, I'm 21, he's 23 - so we had all our worldly possessions packed in the car with just enough room for our bodies to fit into the front seat. It's 1:00AM, we have fumes in the gas tank and we coast into Deadwood. No gas stations open, no motel rooms available.
We pulled into the police station to find out if they could give us any suggestions. My husband ended up standing all night in the parking lot keeping the local cop company (he was lonely),while I sat straight up in the passenger seat trying to sleep, thinking, "Please arrest us, so I can sleep in a cell."
Anyone still awake?

I am wide awake, Madame, in every sense of that expression, LOL!
Annie, I caught Argh being sweet to you on another thread! Lookee here:
Great to see you Miss Annie, you're looking splendiferous today.
Is he just a big softy or what? [hee, hee] We luvs ya that way, ya big hunk.
Joe, dearest, I made it through this day. That is as much cause for celebration as I've had this Friday. May I have a bottle of bubbly to share with my friends?
A toast to Freedom, to FReepers, and to Free Republic!

You know, MnM, if you keep hanging out with us you are liable to fall off your wagon!
We are a bad influence on reformers! STAY FREE, buddy; we luv ya just the way ya are.
Madame, I have been to Deadwood, and I more than likely stopped at the same service station you did...it IS a one-horse town! I went to SC for the express purpose of visiting the gravesites of Calamity Jane and her beloved. I am awful glad I did. I was a Calamity Jane of sorts myself at the time, but I am reformed now...
LOL! Someone come and be a bad influence on me!
To: Madame Dufarge
Excuse me, Madame, not enough bubbly in the bloodstream yet! "SC" must be erased, and "SD" put in its place.
Someone care to buy the next round?

You are having TOO MUCH FUN with the html, buddy, LOL! Yea, buddy! I sure am! A few weeks ago, I couldn't do a darned thing to make my simple posts look good. Everything ran all together, and I was the Sgt. Schultz of FR HTML I know nothing! Then good 'ol BansheeBill threw me a bone and told me I could start learning via a search of newcomers and my world changed here on FR - for the better. I went to HMTL Bootcamp and came out being able to post pics, etc. etc!
Yea, 3C - I'm havin' fun! ;-)
I'm gonna go check & see if the Stanislaw (sp?) GJ announced what their decision was on the Anna Marie Smith complaint. As Arnold says, tho, I'll be back!

I drove for 32 hours until I started to hallucinate---no drugs needed. Had to finally stop just before dawn. This was also my fourth day on the road. I am sorry I did not get a Sturgis souvenir though---something for the leather jacket I do not own!!!
LOL, LGE

Many thanks for your welcome. Have been lurking for awhile because, although a smoker, was in the closet as far as FR goes. Started a relationship with "dead culture watch" via FR back in May. Afraid to tell him I smoked. We had lived 3,000 apart until I moved to Tacoma from NJ to be with him, so the secret was well kept.
As fate would go, he had the same issue. Our first day together was fraught with nicotine withdrawal tension until he had the courage to inform me he needed a cigarette. I admitted that so did I and then to his protests, produced used packs of matches to prove that I was indeed a smoker.
All is now happily ever after in our haze-filled life together!!!!

Yes, going to the roast. My first FR event. Also looking forward to meeting people here in the Great Northwest.
Will we be able to smoke? :~)
To: Ramius
I photographed Gig Harbor on Thursday and browsed some of the shops. Great place. I am also amazed at the genuine friendliness of people here. I was really scared the first couple of days because of the number of people that actually talked to me. Not used to friendliness having come from NJ where the best you can expect is a grunt from anyone at a courtesy counter. Sorry, my friends in NJ, but there really is a difference.
Spent the day today at Point Defiance. Hiked all over. Spectacular scenery as well as gardens. Enjoyed the fishing boats and Pugent Sound the most.
Glad I'm here. Thanks for the welcome.

You poor thing, glad you passed that hurdle and got back in the haze.
It's amazing how many relationships works out on the net, youngest daughter met her husband that way, they were friends for over 2 years, then it got serious, come November they will celebrate their first aniversary.

Great Dane! I'm trying to hide from the world tonight, thought I'd check in the Smoker's lounge! You were the last post! How are you doing my friend? We're doing just fine here in the US of A. What a week! I've thought of you often this week. Night, night, I'm going outside for a smoke! Looks like the lounge has more serious topics of late.
