They have 37000+ signatures already - yours is needed to really let Washington know that religion also has a place in this country. We are tired of religion always being torn out of our lives by those who feel offended, we have rights also.

... to really let Washington know that religion also has a place in this country. Indeed it does.
But not on public property or on the taxpayers' dime.

The Ten Commandments constitute a code of law. Most diligent scholars of law can find every one of the commandments buried somewhere in the law codes adopted everywhere in Western societies, particularly in the United States and in every state of the Union. Often these commandments appear several times, restated in various ways, but still there.
The fault lies not in the statutes and ordinances as written, but in the selective enforcement of these same statutes and ordinances.

Thank you ClancyJ. My gosh I did not know anything about this. The ACLU is so horrible so evil and their agenda is very scary.
I sure will sign and so will Mr. Snow Bunny and I will tell our friends and family as well.
God bless you ClancyJ for telling us about this. It is sooooooo important to stop these ACLU people.

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.

Thanks, you have my full support and I will alert others to the petition.

Banning or not banning the display of the ten commandments will do little to make anyone better or worse. What a waste of time.

Thanks for the ping. I've really got to get my youngest back to D.C. with me soon - before they sandblast all the scripture off the federal buildings and monuments.
Hey, come to think of it, there seem to be many God-haters right here on FR who would rent the blasters themselves to eliminate our U.S. history from those buildings!

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to post Marx's 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto on the walls of your "publically" financed school rooms?
Here's plank #10:
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
This seems much more in line with your socialist religion than the 10 commandments. Here's commandment #7:
Thou Shalt Not Steal
To: ClancyJ
37,000 signatures ain't gonna do it! What IS the problem anyway? Religionists have churches and homes in which to ponder over the Ten Commandments - why do they need to 'show off' about them? Also, there are various versions of the aforementioned...which ones are you referring to? The ACLU is absolutely right in going after this 'forced feeding' of the TC.

Speaking as an ultra-conservative right-wing fire & brimstone evangelical Christian, I find this proposal extremely silly.

I believe God laid out the 10 commandments and it is false pride for you or any human to believe they need your "protection." Relax your paranoia and live your life accordingly.

I signed it. But, I signed it because the 10 Commandments are a good set of moral rules for any society that wants to remain civilized.
They are not geared toward any one religion. Just as our money says 'In G-d we trust'. Not geared toward any one religion, and I think the founding fathers did this on purpose. jmo

Okay
everybody, you all have to pay to have the words "in God we trust" removed from
every instance that it appears on public/government property and pay to have the words "in Satan we trust" replace them.
Now how do think and feel about your tax dollars being used to support religion? I suspect the pro government/religion people detest the idea. I suspect the anti government/religion people think it's a fitting statement -- in Satan we trust -- of the malevolent, criminal government -- politicians and bureaucrats -- we have today.
