Wisconsin Democrats Eye Plan That Would Override Wisconsin’s Presidential Vote
Wisconsin Right Now ^ | November 7, 2026

Wisconsin Democrats, days after winning control of state government, say they will try to make Wisconsin join a multistate compact that would award the state’s 10 electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, even when Wisconsin voters pick someone else.

The push could have national consequences. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact takes effect only once states holding at least 270 electoral votes, a majority of the Electoral College, have signed on. Eighteen states and the District of Columbia have joined so far, totaling 222 electoral votes, The New York Times reported Thursday. Virginia became the latest member in April.

On Nov. 3, Wisconsin Democrats won the governor’s race and flipped both chambers of the Legislature, taking an 18-15 Senate majority and a 53-46 Assembly majority. The Democrats gained the same full control in Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Arizona.

The compact needs 48 more electoral votes. Pennsylvania has 19, Michigan 15, Arizona 11, Wisconsin 10 and Nevada 6, according to the National Archives. Depending on which of those states sign on, as few as four could push the compact past 270.

“National popular vote will be something that we’ll prioritize early in the session,” state Sen. Kelda Roys, D-Madison, told the Times.

However, there is already pushback.

“The compact won’t survive litigation. I would guess every center-right public-interest firm would sue (and many others). It doesn’t make sense that a compact can override the Electoral College clauses. Also the president can veto the compact anyway. So this is at least two years away,” Dan Lennington, an attorney with the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, wrote on X.

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact

Too many words. Takes too long to say. Might I suggest Confederate States of America?

The irony is that Republicans now have a better chance at winning the popular vote than ever winning the electoral college.

With Texas in the (D) column, there are no circumstances in which the GOP can win the electoral vote.

And the fact is, the Democrats already had half the EVs they need without having to spend a dime.

“The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact takes effect only once states holding at least 270 electoral votes... “

Who decides that it takes effect - is there some law or governing body?

Also EVs made sense when people used to live their entire lives in one state.

Now we’ve seen the impact of people moving from one state to another.

In this state, not only do we have to fight socialists but GOPe anti conservatives (will say it that way to remove bias) who shiv said conservatives in the back. The leader Speaker Robin Vos who bailed back in Feb when he saw what was coming, did not lift a finger to help governor candidate Tom Tiffany

Also keep in mind when posting articles from WRN (or as we say up here (whatever Robin want(ed) is written by one of the most obnoxious GOPe shills Jessica McBride.
She punted on the latest governor elect Crowley scandal just reported, continually prints articles slandering TPUSA, and disparages conservatives at every turn because she knows better. More egregious was her writing trashing and stating do not vote for an R candidate Mike Alonso in CD7 because, he defeated her former boyfriend in the primary
WRN is an establishment GOPe blog

Unless Republicans win Wisconsin. As inconceivable as that sounds, if Texas can flip, anything can happen.

Hispanics in the RGV can swing Texas from R to D or from D to R and Texas can swing the EC.

With that, voters in the RGV may swing a presidential election.

As much as democrats cheat in elections, it was just a matter of time until they just nullify the vote altogether. Enjoy “your democracy” a-holes.

One important factor here and all the Texas rage against Musk is that he brought in a lot of gringo engineers and technicians into the RGV, which upset many people in the Mexico border paradise.

That’s what it sounds like to me.
National Popular Vote Interstate Compact Is a group of states seceding and they will elect their own president……probably President Mamdani and VP El Sayed!
Then they’ll wage war against US Christians and Jews.
Sound far fetched?
Think again.
If US islamocommie fraud isn’t SQUELCHED, that’s what will happen.

The US constitution is silent on how a state determines its electoral votes. By precedent and tradition, popular vote within that state determines its electoral votes, but the governor of a state could determine its electoral votes, and constitutionally it would be legitimate.

The issue with the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is that it's a direct violation of the constitution's Compact Clause, which states: "No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is unconstitutional because "interstate compacts" are prohibited by the constitution, unless approved by Congress (the New York-New Jersey Port Authority as an example).

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact

If it's legal to make a National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, why wouldn't it be legal for these states to instead sign a National Democrat Candidate Interstate Compact? Just agree to always give your electoral votes to the Democrat candidate, and be done with it.

The first time this plan works in favor of Republicans, if ever, they will run to the courts to have it thrown out.
