With Susie Wiles’s Departure, Big Business Loses a Sympathetic Ear

Former chief of staff served as conduit between business community and Trump administration

Lobbyists and surrogates for some of the world’s largest companies had a go-to strategy when they saw no other path to head off a damaging policy from President Trump: call Susie Wiles.

Throughout her tenure, Trump’s departing chief of staff became a sounding board for corporations and advocacy groups trying to influence the administration, according to people familiar with the matter. Her departure, announced Friday, will leave many businesses searching for a new interlocutor within the White House.

Leading Wall Street executives have often turned to Wiles and her staff. JPMorgan Chase Chief Executive Jamie Dimon and his team have been in regular contact with her, as well as her former deputy, James Blair, The Wall Street Journal has reported. Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser has also had some interactions with both Wiles and incoming chief of staff Stephen Miller, according to people familiar with the matter.

It was Wiles, along with Vice President JD Vance, who helped broker a truce between Trump and Elon Musk after their public falling out. Musk recently poured roughly $500 million into Republican midterm efforts.

Wiles was known to encourage companies to invest domestically. After a foreign auto manufacturer announced a new plant was being built in the U.S. earlier this year, Wiles texted “thank you” to officials at the company, according to a person who received the text message.

But while Wiles was viewed as a sympathetic ear by corporate titans, their entreaties to her sometimes failed. Shortly after Trump imposed sweeping tariffs last year, a healthcare-trade group contacted Wiles and...

More and more, I think it is a mistake for the GOP to be controlled by Country Club Republicans — elderly people with big stock portfolios who only want shareholder values to go up. How about policies that help workers? That help customers? You don’t have to be a “socialist” to care about those people. Look at the election results: young people are fed up with the state of our society and they want someone to help them. Companies that layoff their workers (H1-B and AI is better, right?) and force the public to subscribe (because you cannot buy or repair) their products may be good for your stocks and bonds, but the voters don’t like it.

GOP is dead. Kill it! We don’t have time to wait for them to rebuild. They have had no organization in the most populous states, outside of Texas and Florida for years, and now Texas is gone.

I do agree. I cannot imagine a scenario where the GOP ever achieves political power again. They are the Whigs and they are best forgotten.

American needs new thinking. Not socialism. And not the “right-wing” stuff we’ve been getting.

If the GOP closed up shop, the Democrats would split into two parties.

They know Americans don’t want to be a one-party state. It may be our only chance.

And now the Nazi incels are gunning to take over the GOP, anyway. That’s what’s going to be left.

“Pro-Business” cuts 3 or more distinct ways
1) Small business vs big business. When a “new” product emerges (eg drones) Small business is much more effective in delivering the “new” than Boeing or Lockheed types. Kelly Loeffler is in charge of that and doing better than anyone else in that position in my 83 years.

2) Imports vs Domestic walls vs Exports. The right wing CATO analysis is pretty convincing that tariffs have not worked. The problems Trump tariffs created were a factor in the Republican loss, although not in the top 2 factors. Rubio has been very successful in Latin America and that area should receive more free trade. We need trade with the Japan to India ring around China to prevent China from taking over everything.

3) The SWAMP. Bureaucrats in the swamp move back and forth with government contractors selected by those bureaucrats. Some on consciously corrupt. Some are blind to “business as usual”. The best example is welfare contractors.’

Deloitte is the prime SWAMP contractor example. Its IES Integrated Eligibility System is in 25+ states... CA TX FL GA IL WI MI PA NY MA ... all the big sates. Deloitte IES is FRAUD. And it is the base for much FRAUD WASTE ABUSE by others. Example: Gainwell Technologies is the other big Medicaid contractor. It receives the garbage data from Deloitte. Its big WASTE is in trying to process the Deloitte garbage data.

Much of the FRAUD WASTE ABUSE by welfare recipients and welfare providers is enabled by the Deloitte garbage data.

Will DOJ, Vance, RFK, OZ go after the white collar crime? the crocs in the swamp? Or just the mosquitos in the swamp?

“FRAUD WASTE ABUSE by welfare recipients and welfare providers”

The government could recover the cost of SNAP, Obamaphones, TANF, etc. over a period of 10 years from a recipients’s Social Security.

Big business is largely run by dems and RINOs. They never should have had a sympathetic ear. With all their DEI policies they’ve crushed American men. I hope Miller gets rid of H1Bs and comes down harder on illegals. That’s how you win men back.

Big business that handed millions to Susie’s lobbyist daughters to buy access to the president. Good riddance. DeSantis always said she was a snake.
