The 2026 midterm elections have clearly been very good for Democrats across the board. But their House majority is trending toward historic numbers.
CNN is projecting that Democrats have won more than 250 House seats, with a net gain of around 40 seats. And they could hit or even exceed 260 total seats by the time all is said and done.
That would give them around an 85-seat majority and make it the biggest Democratic majority since the early 1990s — the tail end of decades of Democratic domination of the House.
If Democrats get to 260 seats, it would be their biggest House majority since 1991-93, when they had 267. They had 258 seats in the following Congress and 257 after former President Barack Obama’s big win in 2008 swept Democrats into power.
By winning more than 250 seats, Democrats’ House majority is already bigger than any Republican House majority since the Great Depression. (The GOP’s high watermark since then was 247 seats after the 2014 election). If they won 260, it would mean Democrats have won 60% of the available House seats.

Nonsense. This election had historic turnout, which included millions of men voting. The reality is that men voted for Republican candidates by a majority of 65%-70%. On the other hand, women only voted for Republican candidates 35%-40%.
Maybe talking about women’s asses and bodies in a lecherous and debauched or hyper protective manner doesn’t give women the sense of safety so many here seem to think. The election breakdowns all point that direction.

When you found a way to add 20 million new Dem voters out of thin air, it sets the condition where it would be historic.
This was not a legit election. But damn if they didn’t do it good.
About 13,000 babies are born each year at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The vast majority are Hispanic. And that's at just one hospital! Texas has been changing for a long time. It will never be the same.

2020 was a test run. That election blessed us with 4 years of Obama-3. So if it worked so well last time, why not do it again? The dems imported 10s of millions of illegal aliens. This phony election was the result.
And our republican congress did nothing to secure our voting system.
In 2022 they predicted a “red wave” which didn’t happen, but when they predicted a “blue wave” it did happen. I don’t believe that it is entirely legitimate. Unfortunately it is useless to complain. Bend over.
As they say, we aren’t voting our way out of this.
Historic is how stupid americans have become
imho, this is temporary - I saw the 2008 results and on FR it was doom and gloom - compounded in 2012. Then 2020 and the reverse - the Dems on NYT had doom and gloom.
in each case the winning side thought they had a “permanent majority” - and it was nothing of the sort.
This result was primarily:
1. High prices
2. a seemingly not ending war in Iran
3. President Trump seeming out of touch with his comments
All of this is changeable and I believe will change in the next couple of years
