Abdul El-Sayed is having a terrible home stretch in the Michigan Senate race, digging himself deeper on a daily basis. And for whatever reason, he just can't seem to put the shovel down.
First, he refused to condemn a blatantly antisemitic ad supporting his campaign. That was too much for Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), his former primary opponent, who had endorsed him after their race. Stevens flipped and endorsed his Republican opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers. In the final days of the campaign, El-Sayed's candidacy is tearing the Democrat Party apart, and now he is stuck playing defense on antisemitism at a time he needs Jewish voters the most.

“I don't ever get the question of, 'Does Palestine have the right to exist?'" El-Sayed said.
Douthat obliged and asked him exactly that. El-Sayed said yes without missing a beat.
Then Douthat turned the same question toward Israel.
“Does Israel have the right to exist?” he asked.
It wasn’t a trick question.
“S— yes. If there is a shared understanding—" El-Sayed said before Douthat interrupted to challenge the qualifier.

Palestine got a clean yes with no strings attached. Israel, however, got a stammer and conditions.

I remember we had some Palestinians come present their side to us at our Methodist Church and I had to go explain after the presentation that calling the Jewish side “Israeli dogs” was not winning them any points.

If he is elected Senator, he should not be given a security clearance as he is a clear security risk, based on his family history and the organizations he claims to support. And if he does not qualify for a security clearance, I don’t see how he can function as a U.S. Senator.
Even Senators and Congressman not assigned to the Intelligence Committees are normally granted some level of a security clearance. (Confidential, Secret, Top-Secret)
Yes, worldwide. A much larger task but doable. Preserve all other civilizations on earth. Some trend toward totalitarianism, but they don’t have 1.5 billion soldiers stationed everywhere to carry out the mandate.

We had a Palestinian at our church a few weeks ago but he didn’t talk about politics, only about the plight of Palestinian Christians who make Christian artwork from olive wood but are struggling because of the lack of tourists after Oct. 7. He brought some examples for people to buy if they wanted to, so he was fundraising on behalf of the Palestinian Christians.
The idea of liberal politicians like Dem’s who roll over for Islam in America after 9/11 is unconscionable.

The interview is not disastrous for him. He knows his voters.
FWIW, that firm had Kamala beating Trump in NV, GA, NC, and WI and tied in MI and PA. You wonder what kind of effect the weekend’s events will ultimately have on things, we shall soon see needless to say.
