There is something in the watercooler at The Washington Post. Well, more specifically, in whatever water WaPo's editorial board is drinking. For the most part, the Post remains a hotbed of Trump Derangement Syndrome-induced hysteria. Typically, the wildfire of irresponsible propaganda "journalism" is lit by editorial directives. For example, The New York Times editorial board is comprised of pathological liars, and that creates the standards-free environment that permeates the organization.
WaPo's editorial board has been getting some things right lately, which is one of the most interesting things I've seen in 20+ years of writing about media bias. The way it gets there can often be convoluted, which is what I'm discussing in this column. More often than not, there will be mere kernels of correctness in an editorial that mostly misses the mark. Here is an example from its most recent editorial, which is about various property tax initiatives that are on the ballot next week:
Ad hoc rate cuts require capable elected officials who closely monitor tax collections and don’t have grand designs for greater government spending. Such officials are not always in power. So, voters may want a more solid assurance that their tax burden won’t rise too fast.
Old-school WaPo boards spent more than half a century celebrating "grand designs for greater government spending." The new group sees not having any as something that "capable elected officials" do. This board is risking not being invited to the Democrats' annual "Free Healthcare and Abortions Also Plus J6" ball next year.

France’s political crisis is colliding with a mathematical one. The government has made expensive commitments that its economy isn’t growing fast enough to keep. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets again this weekend to fight for larger slices of a pie that is not getting bigger.
The grievances differ from country to country, but the protests unfolding across Italy, Portugal, Spain and Belgium share an economic backdrop: weak growth, rising living costs and governments struggling to satisfy public demands.
What’s the common thread?... immigrants (illegal and other).
Bollocks. It’s jihad.
But.. https://jihadwatch.org/2026/10/italys-catholic-bishops-promote-quran-as-revealed-word-of-god
Also bollocks.
We are also up to our eyeballs in spending commitments, mostly to retirees, that cannot and will not be met. That starts with Social Security and Medicare.
Anyone who still thinks that Social Security is an earned benefit is a fool. It never was and is not today. It is and always has been a Ponzi scheme. We keep kicking the ball down the road. Now we are coming to the end of the road.
We can bankrupt ourselves with high tech medical interventions as well. Seniors are massively subsidized. That will be cut sooner or later.
The only “health care” that democrats will hold sacred are abortions and trans procedures. The only “health care” that Trump will hold sacred is getting Trump tattoos on your butt.
One way out is a government rationed system in which Big Brother will tell you what you get. The other way out is to return to individual choice with an adequate safety net for people who are uninsurable for reasons beyond their control.
But that choice is ultimately about deciding who has the right to set the limits, and the ultimate limit is what you are willing to pay for out of your own pocket. Personally, when it’s time to go, I’m content to go, and I’d rather leave my kids better off with more options than waste everything I’ve saved over my lifetime trying to prolong my life by another six months.
I’ve noticed this too. Washington Post is still mostly lunatic/corrupt, but there are occasional flashes of honest sanity in its writing of late. Hard to say how that’s happening.
Mabey Liberals realizing that the monster they carried is going to eat them.

Please go.

DO NOT RE-ELECT FOLKS WHO SCORE IN THE 80s AND BELOW!
Yes. WaPo diversion from the Islamist elephant in the room/streets popped up on Google News.
Of course
Read up on Ida Fuller. Social Security has been a fraud from Day 1. And Medicare promises benefits that our kids cannot afford. At some point, they will just pull the plug. And they should.
Thanks, no, I’m not having what you’re having.
This is a great link to a website that shows you how your elected officials rate by a freedom organization. Interestingly, in far Northwest New Jersey, which is near Bedminster, the state senator has a higher rating than my local legislators here in Florida.
Though not perfect, it looks like any rating higher than 70% is pretty good. The post says not to reelect anyone who’s even in the 80% but I don’t think that’s realistic. I looked up a few ZIP Codes, where I know there are Democrats and they rate 3%.
“ Anyone who still thinks that Social Security is an earned benefit is a fool. ”
Really? What was that deduction the government thugs took out of every paycheck I ever earned over fifty years? You know, the money i was not allowed to invest as I wanted to. I think I earned this and I’m not the fool here.
Was that particular hyperbole really necessary?
