Who edits this stuff?
A rant from the New York Times editorial board compares the Trump administration to some of history’s worst dictatorships:
The revocation of a political opponent’s citizenship has long been a tool of authoritarian repression.
The Soviet Union stripped Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, the dissident author, of his citizenship in 1974 and deported him to West Germany. Czechoslovakia revoked the citizenship of Milan Kundera, another celebrated author, in 1979. East Germany and Romania, under Communist rule, took similar steps against critics, as did Chile under Augusto Pinochet, Greece under its military dictatorship, Germany under Hitler and Italy under Mussolini. More recently, Nicaragua stripped more than 300 government critics of their citizenship.
Now comes a new effort to do so from President Trump’s administration. Last week, federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., home of Representative Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat and a Somali immigrant, apparently as part of a federal investigation of her citizenship. The search should disturb all Americans, regardless of whether they agree with Ms. Omar’s political views.
Ms. Omar deserves the presumption of innocence just like anyone else. There are reasons that not all Americans are disturbed. Unlike in a dictatorship, we the people choose a Congress to draft laws, we the people choose a president to see that they are faithfully executed, and we the people also enjoy the protection of an independent judiciary to act as a check on the other branches of government.
To avoid challenging themselves, the writers of the Times editorial never take on the big unanswered question in this case: If this is all so disturbing, why didn’t a federal magistrate judge refuse to authorize the warrant?
Former prosecutor Elie Honig is no...

“The Rule of Law” narrative died faster than the #MeToo narrative.
“No one is above the law” except Democrats.
I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that EVERY EXAMPLE the NY Times uses regarding stripped citizenship involves losing the citizenship from your BIRTH COUNTRY, not the one you immigrated to, and certainly not the one you provided FALSE INFORMATION to, in order to immigrate.
The Slimes is a national socialist, fascist, commie organization.
QED, based on this article.
Yeah exactly right. If this was in reverse and it was a Republican they’d be cheering it all on.
Omar, the “Somali first” representative.
I’ll give Omar and all the other Leftists the same presumption of innocence that she and they gave Trump and conservative Republicans. The WSJ has become an unreadable Leftist mouthpeice.
The New York Times helped to cover for Hitler, so to them, calling someone Hitler should be a compliment.
The NY Times should have gone out of business eons ago.
No One is above the law.
Remember that one NYT? GFY.
The NYT editorial board is behaving like impulsive 5-year olds. They have an eye on the outcome they want and will bend any rule, regulation or societal expectation to get what they want. And they want it NOW!
Wait. First he was Hitler then he was Neville Chamberlain and now he’s Hitler again??? Make up your damn minds.
And Stalin with Walter Duranty's propaganda for which he was awarded the 1932 Pulitzer Prize.
As a matter of fact, Nazis and communists expelled just few.
The standard way of treating undesirable opposition were gulags and concentration camps.
They actually prohibited most of their citizens, especially opposition figures, to leave at all.
If you remember the Berlin wall and the barbed fences around the whole communist block, they were aimed inside, against people trying to leave!
DEATH TO AMERICA! - vote Democrat Socialist.
Just part of their agenda, doncha know.
