More Voters Blame the U.S. Than Iran for the Iran Conflict
The Honest Poll ^ | October 16, 2026 5:00 PM EDT | Mark Mitchell

Posted on 10/16/2026 7:37:24 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Republicans blame Iran, Democrats blame the United States, and men under 40 are the most likely to name Israel

Voters were asked who they blame most for the ongoing conflict involving Iran and how much it will matter when they vote in November.

A new national survey by The Honest Poll finds that 40% of Likely Voters blame the United States most, ahead of the 31% who blame Iran and 14% who blame Israel. Three percent (3%) name someone else and 12% are not sure. Registered Voters answered 39% the United States, 28% Iran, 14% Israel, 3% someone else and 15% not sure.

Party is the clearest dividing line. A majority of Republicans, 52%, blame Iran, while 18% blame the United States and 9% Israel. Democrats are close to the reverse: 58% blame the United States, 19% Israel and only 10% Iran. Independents fall in between at 36% the United States, 27% Iran and 16% Israel. The 2024 vote sorts the same way, with 52% of Trump voters naming Iran and 62% of Harris voters naming the United States. Ideology shows the same split: 50% of conservatives blame Iran and 5% of liberals do, while 63% of liberals blame the United States against 25% of conservatives.

We are living in bizzaro world

Iran proxy Hamas started the war on Oct 7 and Iran and its Houthi and Hezbollah proxies began launching ballistic missiles and drones into Israel and the Houthis began attacking shipping and US Navy vessels and aircraft in the Red Sea with missiles and drones

How could anyone miss that

“The survey of 939 Registered Voters, including 780 Likely Voters, was conducted October 4-6, 2026, by The Honest Poll, combining an online panel with an SMS text survey, weighted to match known demographic and political benchmarks. “

Did a little research on Mark Mitchell. Sounds like a disgruntled egomaniac to me — left Rasmussen because he didn’t get all the respect he felt was due him. Googling him reveals that his Trump-bashing has made him something of a progressive darling. Those internals — such as they are — aren’t all that convincing for a guy who claims to be God’s new gift to polling...

Sometimes it’s willful ignorance in spite of abundant information.

Jeanne Kirkpatrick 1984 Republican Convention, “Blame America First” Trump needs to do an Oval Office between now and 11/3, hammer on, the other plan was for decades, “Trust Iran First.” But there was a fatwa against developing nuclear weapons, cut to video showing Iranians machine gunned in the streets

A majority of Republicans, 52%, blame Iran...

Whoa. That's all? A dismal figure. Increased solar flares and too much junk food could have been rivals.

The LORD is patient, desiring that none should perish... slow to wrath... but eventually his wrath is poured out.

Pray he does not remove his hedge of protection from US.

(I don’t believe in coincidence.)

What if Trump had said: I promised to stay out of wars. If Iran really has a nearing nuke breakthrough then stall until just after the midterms. Get the CIA and Mossad to sabotage the program a few months. I am not sending carriers and thousands of troops to the Gulf now. We have midterms to win.

Then we would have practically no inflation and the Dems would be hopelessly trying to figure out a way to keep a few House seats and Senators as they declined.

"Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed – in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous."
