Sailors descend on San Francisco for Fleet Week
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | October 12, 2026 | By Dan Gentile

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… yep, it’s a plane. Fleet Week took over San Francisco over the past few days, with the Blue Angels scorching through the skies, bringing San Franciscans to their rooftops to take in the spectacle and causing pets to cover in fear. And of course, it brought swarms of sailors out to the Marina, North Beach and other shore-adjacent neighborhoods.

I’d likely stay on board if we docked there. 🙄

One would think that armed services personnel would be welcome in SF because…well, you know.

I spent a day in SF doing the tourist thing back in 1986 before going north to spend 10 days in Roseville.

SF is very cool and unique city to be sure, but even back then observing the people I could already see the direction it was heading in and sure enough here we are.

Homosexuality is the order of the day, human waste and drug paraphernalia all over the streets and moral degenerates running it all.

Very sad actually.

It's a city that's certainly had its fair share of progressive whackos leading it...but I genuinely think it's starting to turn the corner.

1 - The current mayor, Lurie, has repeatedly objected to the most insanely progressive policies of past city leaders.

2 - The luxury housing market is BOOMING now. That speaks for itself. Wealthy buyers don't plant roots in a metro if they feel its decay is accelerating. Maybe Mamdani and Katie Wilson should take notice.

I started taking my son to San Fran Fleet Week when he was probably 4 years old (31 years ago). He has great memories of watching the Blue Angels perform. I bought him a Blue Angles large book at a booth manned by the author when he was probably 7 and he still has it. We were reminiscing about the shows on the phone yesterday. Great memories. Every year we enjoy remembering all the great shows we saw. One year, the Blue Angels had to perform at a higher altitude due to fog, so the show was ABOVE the fog bank and we couldn’t see a thing! But we heard the whole show. ;>)

He and his buds were going to go watch the show yesterday, but they decided to go to a bar in Mt. View and watch the 49ers-Seahawks game instead and later join in the Oktoberfest festivities in MV.

My son, DIL, and grandsons in the SF Bay area LOVE to go to Fleet Week and watch the air shows. My 5 yo grandson loves the Top Gun movie (or at least the songs) and he dresses up in full TG attire. He is totally enthralled with all of it. Maybe he will grow up to be a fighter pilot.

I take great pride in the individuals who took great pride in wearing their uniforms in San Francisco this weekend. Sad to see folks on this forum mocking their service to our nation.

Hope they remember

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf
