Greece and Spain are sitting on stockpiles of Patriot air defence missiles nearing their expiry dates that could be donated to Ukraine, The Telegraph can disclose.
The two Nato nations hold some of Europe's largest reserves of the interceptors, even as Kyiv pleads for more to defend against Russia's plans for its most brutal long-range bombardments of the war.
Ukrainian officials have circulated what they say are intercepted Russian plans for a new campaign to cripple the country's energy grid, plunging cities into darkness and testing the population's resolve through the winter.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, has repeatedly pressed his allies to supply more interceptors for his American-made Patriot surface-to-air missile batteries, the most effective system for downing incoming warheads.
Kyiv fears Russian forces will unleash 1,000 missiles, drones and bombs against electrical substations, hydro and thermal power plants, and infrastructure at Ukraine's three operating nuclear power plants.
Mr Zelensky has said Ukraine needs between 300 and 360 Patriot interceptors to help withstand Russia's winter campaign.

I guess Z-Man’s goal is to burn up all the Patriot missiles in the world then complain about that, too.
I guess they don’t want some Ukrainian IOUs.
Current EU leaders obviously don’t give two hoots in a rain barrel about Zelensky…..
EU leaders are just pussies watching their countries FAIL and are inviting more alien chaos when they should have their own ICE divisions.
Just delaying the inevitable.
Donate to Ukraine?
What kind of dumb thing to say. If anything the would be sold to Ukraine. And if really wanted to help them they could be sold at cost
The EU is supposed to "help" Ukraine.
If they were really holy they would pay Z-Man to take them.
Why would they want to keep them for their own defense?
That is so selfish!
“Spain and Greece refuse to give up Patriots that could save Ukraine”
Too funny - Headline SHOULD read:
“Spain and Greece refuse to give up Patriots that could save Ukraine FOR 2 MONTHS”
“I guess Z-Man’s goal is to burn up all the Patriot missiles in the world then complain about that, too.”
Probably cut a deal with Raytheon. Based on some of the Russian hits, it does seem that he is TRYING to get them destroyed as quickly as possible.
Somebody call the Whaaaaaaammmbulance for Volodymoort...
They’d do it if the EU made future aid conditional on compliance.
Interesting that the EU is refusing to do that.
Tell him to play a piano…
America burned up most Patriot missiles in protecting the skies of Islamic Saudi Arabia against Iran-Russian missiles. The US administration doesn’t seem to care about the fact that the Saudis are responsible for the 911 terrorist attacks in America which killed 4000 Americans…
Ukrainians are Christians, and they never killed any Americans. That’s probably the reason America doesn’t think Ukraine is qualified for getting Patriot missiles for its defense.
I’m slightly sarcastic, but not that far off…
How’s France doing? Still burning?
Well, good.
It is uncommon to see Greece or Spain to do anything sensible.
We asked the Saudis to host US forces.
We didn’t ask Ukraine to conduct untrustworthy elections.
Ukraine had a civil war because of untrustworthy elections. It became a war involving Russia because of Turkish-made drones.
We could learn from Ukraine’s misery but probably won’t.
Well luckily, in France, it never went as far as the BLM insurrection a few years ago that destroyed 110 American inner-cities. “The summer of love!”, “Mostly peaceful demonstrations!”…. Remember that madness in America ?
I was there when it happened. Beyond horror.
In France Jews will not be attacked like in American pro Palestinian universities today. Are there still American universities that are not terrorized by Palestinian wrath in America ?
What I’m saying here is that don’t make France a scapegoat for America’s weaknesses and failures.
BOTH France and America share the same problems: race-wars, huge deficits, etc... Sad but true.
Sadly, America is now so divided that the prospect of a civil war is imaginable.
That’s not yet the case in France… but it could happen in 10 years.
Even though I find Marine le Pen weak and sometimes misguided , I will still support her, because all the alternatives are worse.
Generally speaking there are no politicians I truly trust, whatever the nation they represent. Some are better than others, but that’s it.
There you go with your histrionic hyperbole again. You were where when it happened, Froggy? Yeah, the leftist-driven “Summer of Love” sucked, but it did not destroy 110 inner cities.
Are there still American universities that are not terrorized by Palestinian wrath in America ?
You’re making the same mistake a lot of Eurotards do. You think all of the U.S. is like New York and L.A. 🙄
You sound like CNN with your propaganda.
What I’m saying here is that don’t make France a scapegoat for America’s weaknesses and failures.
What a bunch of bitter B.S. We know you Eurotards hate us. That’s nothing new.
BOTH France and America share the same problems: race-wars, huge deficits, etc... Sad but true.
Don’t equate my country to France. France was once a great country and has a rich history, but the past few decades haven’t been so great for France. And now you’re pretty much handing your country over to the third world savages.
Seriously, just stop with your never-ending stream of America-hating crap. This is an American site, you know.
