Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike has been discharged from the hospital and returned to prison after surviving a botched lethal injection that left her with serious medical complications, her attorneys announced.
Pike, who survived two doses of the execution drug pentobarbital on Sept. 30, is back at the Deborah K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center, where she has been housed for more than 30 years, according to a joint statement from her legal team.
"Christa Pike was discharged from a local hospital and is now at Deborah K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center where she has been housed for more than 30 years," the statement read. "She is grateful to the first responders and her medical team for their care in these extraordinary circumstances. She is continuing to receive medical care at the prison, and we will continue to track her recovery."
The statement was issued by attorneys Stephen Ferrell and Luke Ihnen of Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee and Randy Spivey and Kelly Gleason of the Tennessee Office of the Post-Conviction Defender.
The attorneys did not disclose when Pike was discharged or whether she has recovered from complications they previously described, including pneumonia, a blood clot and injuries to her arms.
Ferrell told BBC Radio 4 on Thursday that Pike had begun walking around her hospital room but continued to struggle with injuries to her arms and memory problems.

Didn’t she insist on certain people to be her “executioners?”
She should be pardoned after what Tenn. has put her through. Is the governor brain dead?
Is the law drugged by the syringe until dead?
No. The verdict and punishment remain. Since when does an execution cater to the wishes of the condemned? Do criminals guide your sense of morality? Apparently so.
> She should be pardoned after what Tenn. has put her through. <
Which is nothing compared to what Pike did to her victim. Pike not only murdered Colleen Slemmer, Pike slashed and tortured her.
But you do have a point. Someone in the Tennessee system screwed up royally. Fire that person (or persons). And hang Pike.
How come pope Leo has nothing to say about this woman and is, instead, trying to help a muslim who killed 13 people and wounded 30 at Fort Hood????
I’ll tell you why: HE IS NOT A POPE. HE IS A BOUGHT POLITICIAN.
Leo is a FAKE!
He belongs to the Islamocommie Party that is hell bent on destroying America.
what ?
do you realize what a demon she is .
She carefully slowly tortured and butchered a young girl
and put a pentagram on her chest while alive and smashed her skull and took a piece home as a souvenir .
And then attempted to murder another prisoner.
And you feel sorry for her ?
Have you lost your mind.
“Fire that person (or persons). And hang Pike.”
They let her choose her execution method and means. Absurd.
Is this a Chucky Cheese penitentiary?
They’d likely botch the hanging too.
A wood chipper wouldn’t fail. But be humane about it. Head first.
Didn’t she originally request firing squad? Simply grant her request.
Well, from her perspective, the all female execution team worked perfectly.
She’ll get her sentence commuted to life. Hell will have to catch up with her later.
She should take this time to repent and ask for God in Heaven to forgive her by the shed blood of the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the World. This is the best she can hope for.
Let her go……find someone to adopt her……a kind man……maybe a doctor….make a movie out of it…….be a big hit
They should have immediately taken a blood sample...after failing to kill her.
Considering how she slaughtered that girl, no!
She sure did. Demanded, and got, an all female executioner squad. I’m surprised Matt Walsh hasn’t picked up on this. Disasters that follow DEI hires are a recurring theme for him
She also requested hanging or firing squad. She didn’t get that.
Or maybe somebody got paid off and restricting the size of the executioner lineup would only make it easier.
Not saying that’s what happened, of course.
I have an idea, what is she doing on Dec. 3rd?
Tennessee should do it again. Once a week.
