The US Army has set a Dec. 3 execution date for Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan, who will be put to death by firing squad at the site of the 2009 mass shooting where he murdered 13 people and wounded 32 others.

Acting Secretary of the Army Adam Telle signed an execution order Tuesday directing that Hasan be executed at Fort Hood, Texas, at 1 pm Central Time on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2026.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Trump, doing the needful

I hope it is open to the families of the victims, for closure

I believe he should be hung by the neck. Firing squad is not suitable for what he did, in my opinion.

But at least justice will finally be done.

I should have also said it should be open to victims, as well as families of victims, of this jihadist.

Wouldn’t the execution this month help Trump in the midterms?

It doesn’t seem like it happened 17 years ago.

Hanging is appropriate.

A firing squad implies honor.

A firing squad implies honor.

I don't really know if that's true. A firing squad was used in executions for desertion and cowardice in the face of the enemy offenses. Neither of those implies honor by any stretch of the imagination.

You’re not wrong.

Some were hanged, some were shot.

I said a firing squad “implies honor” to the convicted. Quick death. Much better that they get a scratchy hemp rope around their neck and dangle for a few minutes while we grab a cuppa.

Some information about the timeline of the case - credit mass55th here

article I found on searching for the dates of executions:

From Soldier to “Condemned Prisoner”
A Review of Modern Military Death Sentence Procedure
https://www.lineofdeparture.army.mil/Journals/Army-Lawyer/Archive/Issue-1-2026/From-Soldier-to-Condemned-Prisoner/

Second, the Secretary of the Army selects the date of execution.59The date of execution must fall within 60 to 150 days from the date the President approved the death sentence.60After deciding on the method and date of execution, the Secretary of the Army selects the location of the execution.61Though the USDB is often thought of as the single facility for the administration of military death sentences, the Secretary of the Army selects the location after receiving advice from the Provost Marshal General

The German and Japanese also machine gunned (a really efficient firing squad) lots of prisoners and civilians in WW2. It was simply efficiency and had nothing to do with honor.
