Over the weekend, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to rightfully call out Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) for standing in the way of the popular Sunshine Protection Act, a bill that would finally make daylight saving time permanent.
As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson previously reported, President Trump held nothing back. He bravely posted Cotton’s cell phone number online so the American people could let the Senator know exactly how they felt about him blocking this common-sense legislation.
But instead of holding his Washington colleague accountable, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) decided to run straight to the liberal mainstream media to take cheap shots at President Trump.
During a Sunday appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, left-wing hack Kristen Welker predictably tried to weaponize the situation against the GOP. Welker whined, “How does that help the Republican Party a month out from the midterms, Senator?”

John Kennedy:
“Well, I’ll say first, Kristen, every now and then there are disputes in Congress that have existential significance for the future of Western civilization. Daylight Saving Time is not one of them.Tom Cotton feels strongly about it. Tom is a rock star senator. If you get between him and what’s best for Arkansas, he’ll devour you like a light snack.
President Trump’s also my friend. He feels strongly about it. The president, as we know, can be sometimes—he exists loudly. He can be tempestuous. He can go from zero to a-hole in about three seconds.
I don’t think he should have given out Tom’s cell phone number. I don’t think that’s going to help convince Tom.
Yeah, but Trump is our a-hole!
How in the h*ck is year round DST “common sense?” Does no one else remember 1974?
Just meet in the middle with a one time 30 minute adjustment
Personally I’d prefer permanent Standard Time, not Savings Time, but what exactly is the problem with publishing the number of a senator? These clowns all work for us, even if they pretend otherwise.
I remember 1974 quite well. We need the Sunshine Act. How does one a-hole senator deserve the power to hold up a vote? The Senate needs reform
Yeah, but Trump is our a-hole!

Exactly my thought
Split the difference and call it a day.
The problem with Cotton is that he’s the main obstacle in getting the Sunshine Protection Act passed. Most of America is tired of the twice-yearly clock reset.
Even though I disagree with Tom Cotton on this issue, there can be no justification for the President to give out Cotton’s private cell number. If roles were reversed. Cotton would be up a creek. This sounds something I would have expected Lyndon B. Johnson to do, back in the early 60’s, when there were fewer guard rails on presidential behavior.
I agree with President Trump on wanting only one setting for the time, but this is not the way to go about it.
Don’t make an enemy of Tom Cotton. He’s still in the beginning point of his political career.
Here we have two U.S. Senators who have actively opposed President Trump for all of this term.
Cotton has been a huge disappointment and Kennedy too.
If you support this horrible bill, no way you remember 1974.
The problem with the Sunshine Act is that it establishes DST as the fixed time. It should be Standard Time, as that is, well, the standard.
The phone numbers plural -- to CONTACT TOM are on his website.
"Mouseover" any of the four Arkansas city offices and they appear.
“He’s still in the beginning point of his political career.”
Every time I see him he’s posing in front of the TV cameras behind Thune and Barasso. Cotton is beginning on the wrong path
The bill gives individual stayes the ability to opt out. Tom’s state can do whatever the hell they please, but what makes him think he gets to soeak for the nation?
Like Americans found out in 1974, adjusting the clock twice a year is a compromised solution to providing daylight hours to morning commuters and school children during the winter as well as evening daylight hours to families in the evening to enjoy being outdoors more during the summer.
Ironically, Alaska, with its two time zones, still uses DST, even though parts of the state have daylight all day during some of the summer and no daylight in some of the winter.
If you want to blame something for having to put up with changing the clock for daylight saving time, blame the 23 degrees tilt of the Earth’s axis as it orbits the Sun. Of course, without that 23 degrees tilt, life on Earth might not be possible.
The hour change should be only a minor inconvenience, especially for people who regularly fly to (or from) different time zones.
Besides, prior to 1883 there were over 144 local times in North America. Imagine changing the time on your pocket watch multiple times while travelling by train across America.
But then in 1883 the “high-tech” transportation companies (the railroads) established four time zones in the continental U.S. to make the train travel of people and the shipments of goods across all of these local time zones easier and less subject to miscommunication, reducing the chance of train collisions on shared tracks. In 1918, the Interstate Commerce Commission (which regulated railroads) was given control of the five time zones (now including Alaska). Since 1966 the Department of Transportation supervises the boundaries of the time zones as well as daylight saving time.
Imagine that!
The affected ones do the adjusting instead of requiring the rest of the world to adjust to the affected ones' schedule.
