Lukoil’s $20 billion deal: the oil ‘battle’ uniting Trump, Putin and Gulf billionaires

The sale of Lukoil's international assets, worth around $20 billion, has moved from sanctions policy into the talks between Washington and Moscow, with a Boehly-led consortium backed by Gulf investors and a US state agency challenging Carlyle's earlier agreement.

Lukoil announced an agreement to sell its international assets to the American group Carlyle on January 29, 2026, following US sanctions issued in 2025.

American investor Todd Boehly has assembled a new consortium, including Gulf investors and the US International Development Finance Corporation, to compete for the acquisition.

The sale involves energy assets worth approximately $20 to $22 billion, including oil reserves and facilities in Europe like Bulgaria and Romania.

Reports suggest the potential transaction is being discussed during diplomatic communications between the administration of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The involvement of US government entities and figures with ties to the president's inner circle has prompted scrutiny regarding the transaction's potential political implications.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

It was only a matter of time the West begins Trade and Commerce ( especially energy) with Russia. Russia has much of what the West needs. As the Ukie war winds down, look forward to more energy deals with Russia.

....and Vlad says thank you for the $22 Billion.

Long term agreements for energy are a good thing.

why Trump plays along with the neo-marxist EU, Davos Globalists, and their many allies in DC on this “destroy Russia” nonsense is beyond me

These same people tried to smear him, impeach him, and assassinate him. They are also trying to goad the USA into war with Russia.

Does he think he is playing 4D chess with these ghouls?

https://valueofenergy.com/diesel/price-today#google_vignette

Any guess why this website stopped tracking diesel price at end of trading last Thursday, Ocy 1? On Friday, October 2, Europe caved to Trump threat to ban U.S. exports of diesel, and it was announced at G7 they would release 100 million barrels of stored diesel over nexy 4 months. There was a virtual media blackout of that new after WSJ suppressed a 2 pm story it had put out by pulling it off the news page. Margaret Brennan did bring it up during her interview with Energy Sec Chris Wright, largely in the context of tring to exploit his public disagreement with Trump over the U.S. export ban. He did not take the bait, but did not make a big deal over the Eropean release either. I haven’t seen any report of a social media post by Trump about it.

How long until we find out Jared Kushner gets a large chunk of money from this?

Thanks, that’s what Wright said down about 20 cents with decline expected to continue, hopeful it accelerates, but media has already manged to obscure anything Trump has done and will attribute to seasonal declines. I can’t find your source when I google, can you help me?

I asked Google to make me a list of the daily average diesel fuel prices from Sept 25 until today.

Strangely, when I try to replicate my search, Google gives me different numbers every time.

....and Vlad says thank you for the $22 Billion.

That's the estimated value of the assets sold, not the actual paid price which is going to be lower.

Foreign assets worth about $22 billion -analysts

The value of the deal has not been disclosed
