A group of 15 Democratic mayors governing in Republican-dominated states are building a new political operation that aims to influence national politics as a center-left alternative to both the MAGA movement and what they describe as "far-left dysfunction" from groups like the Democratic Socialists of America.
The organization -- Blue Cities/Red States -- is led by Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and will launch next week in Miami with a kickoff event hosted by its mayor, Eileen Higgins. The founding mayors lead cities including Atlanta, Jacksonville, Boise, Tulsa and Memphis -- governing more than 7 million Americans across 11 red and purple states, according to a memo for the new coalition.
In an interview with ABC News, Bibb said he hopes these mayors will emerge as a kind of testing ground for a post-2024 Democratic message. He suggested that the party can rebuild trust among voters by zeroing in on things such as public safety, affordability, economic growth -- things that these mayors often govern on, up against Republicans at times, Bibb said.
"As Democrats talk about closing the credibility gap, these 15 mayors have been closing that gap in their cities -- without the cover of a Democratic governor or a Democratic-led legislature," Bibb said.
Higgins, who was elected as Miami's mayor in December as the first Democrat to serve in 28 years, also emphasized the group's focus on working against the political extremes.

Interesting. The concept of “Far-Left” has now been discovered by the media as the traditional Democrats have to push back against the newer Socialist wave.
Nice try girlie men. While you form silly committees, the socialists play for keeps and love violence. History repeats.
MAGA and far-left extremes....
MAGA is now a far-left extreme? Who knew?
Standing in the middle of the road just gets you run over.
Justin Bibb is a corrupt idiot. There is no way any Dems want to work with conservatives. This is likely a way to plan subversion.
(besides corrupt judges and partisan media shills?)
“He suggested that the party can rebuild trust among voters by zeroing in on things such as public safety, affordability, economic growth...”
With what? All these topics have been those that the left has broken down with police defunding, taxes, and the destruction of natural growth destroying the housing market and chasing major employment people out of their states. This “committee” has nothing to offer but BS. (Lies)

And I have a Bridge to sell them in Miami...
A tad curious that at the same time these heroes are trying to muddy the lense, Ro Khanna trots out the term “New Deal” type Democrat. More camouflage for the Socialist tag.
They’d be the first ones shoved against the wall.

The Clintons wants their power back.
ABC tries to help them....again.
At the first blush, it seemed like lazy writing that made me think that. But then I realized it isn't lazy. Characterizing MAGA as "far-Right" organization indicates a concerted effort to move the Overton window to put their Democrat views as mainstream and normal.
In a situation where Republicans and MAGA are on the 80% side of the 80-20% split on issues, they have painted themselves into various corners, and the only way out of it is to rebrand who they are and what they represent.
Of course, we know who we are, because we listen to them and watch their actions, but we also know this isn't aimed at us, because we know who they are. And we know they have no intention of changing. They are, just like James Talarico, going to shape shift and don a skin-suit made from past victims of their filthy ideology to fool another group of people in order to get into power again.
This graphic explains just what they hope to do:
This is all it is. Another worthless, Democrat "rebranding of their dog food" effort (LINK: "The Dogs Won't Eat it Parable"
As a good aside to them, it is another "non-partisan/non-profit" that is not only not "non-partisan" but is profitable to both them and the Democrat Party.
It’s like when Bill Clinton distanced himself from “Sistah Souljah” back during the 1992 Campaign, to portray himself as the “Great Centrist”.
Yep. They woke up and found themselves in bed with the DSA and are trying to distance themselves.
The only difference between the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the mainstream Democrat Party is that the DSA is simply saying aloud the insane parts that mainstream Democrats also believe, and they are simply trying to shush the stupid DSA people up so they don’t reveal their true faces to a gullible electorate.

You are calling the shot on normalcy. It is the habit of the libs to move to the center prior to an election only to transform back even worse when the first full moon rises. Everything they do is for votes and money. Nothing else covers their needs. They eat everyone’s young.

“no way any Dems want to work with conservatives.”
In Atlanta D Bottoms left current mayor D Dickens with a terrible mess to clean up. Dickens has been neither a Socialist nor Capitalist but an effective pragmatist with the realities of his city council, powers and relations with state politicians.
He would work much better with Governor candidate R Jackson than Governor candidate D Bottoms.
This is just the latest Democrat lie: “We’re moderate!! We’re moderate!! Really, we’re in the middle!!
