CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Two children who are accused of beating a 5-year-old girl began their trial Monday morning, more than a year after the girl’s mother found her injured in a field.
“I literally saw the worst thing ever,” Antavia Kennibrew, the girl’s mother, said in an interview with 19 News in 2025.
The trial for the girl, now 11, started Monday in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.
Prosecution painting a disturbing picture of the attack.
“The girl’s clothes were taken off. She was strangled with her own shirt, the 5-year-old.” said the prosecution
The 9-year-old boy took a plea deal in the case, pleading guilty to attempted rape and felonious assault.
His disposition date is set for November 20.
The 11-year-old girl has not yet taken a plea, but will still appear in court later this morning.

The young 5-yr old victim appears to be black. Assuming the young perpetrators were also, because if white kids beat a young black girl this would be headline news for a month.
Black on black crime ...not such a big deal. Either way, very depressing.

The judge gave the boy a WEEK to appear in court when he didn’t show up today because of car trouble....A WEEK. How about in an hour or at the least before the end of the day?????
I just read “House of Evil: The Indiana Torture Slaying” - bad enough and then I picked up and have started “Such Good Boys: The True Story of a Mother, Two Sons and a Horrifying Murder”...
The first one was described by defense and prosecution as the worst crime they had heard of in the whole state of IN in their careers and the second one should have had a warning but I read the back and learned what happens before I got further into the book...There aren’t words for any of this!!
The article states the attack occurred in September 2025, one year ago.
How embarrassing. I read the part where it stated ‘..the girl, now 11...’ and just went from there. I’m in a worse mood than I thought!

Just under the Freeper’s name it shows which comment they were replying to. Nobody said the rape of the little girl was no biggie. They were discussing a misunderstanding over when it occurred. The misunderstanding was no biggie.
