The Trump administration is using taxpayer funds to air a television advertisement from Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign in the latest in a series of ads promoting the president ahead of the midterms that the White House maintains are “public service announcements.”
The 30-second video, which is virtually identical to one that aired in 2024, shows Trump walking down a hallway as his voice can be heard warning of a “final battle” against “globalists” and “warmongers.” The black-and-white video ends with Trump staring straight into the camera lens with a message that says: “Paid for by the U.S. Government.” The 2024 iteration of the ad from the Trump campaign urged viewers to “Join President Trump’s Fight for America.”
Lawmakers of both parties have criticized the new series of ads for their inherently political nature and the use of taxpayer dollars. The White House maintains they are like the ones used by past presidents, though those previous ads promoted particular policies, not Oval Office occupants.
Spending on the latest ad already topped about $319,000, according to AdImpact, which tracks media spending.
“With you at my side, we will demolish the ‘deep state.’ We will expel the war mongers from our government. We will drive out the globalists; we will cast out the communists, Marxists, and fascists,” he says in the narration. “We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country. We will rout the fake news media, and we will liberate America from these villains once and for all.”

Recipe: mix 1 part chutzpah, 1 part hubris, and season with a good amount of irony.
Setting aside the fact that DJT has the super PAC with the biggest amount of money this cycle and there should be no reason to be spending tax dollars on this, here’s the concern, in order of level of concern:
1. Too many people assume all 78m DJT voters were dyed in the wool supporters. Lots of “both sides haters” simply voted Trump because they were unhappy with their wallets. An ad like this could backfire because it will only serve to reinforce the ‘squish opposition’ vote.
2. True blue(/red) MAGA voters NEED to turn out in the midterms and they simply haven’t in 2018 and 2022. I *hope* this helps in 2026, but prior evidence doesn’t lend itself to that result.
3. It plays directly into the hands of the rats. Let’s get outside the bubble — it is a BAD idea to broadly make this midterm about DJT. It’s counterproductive.

I’d bet that the AP is not aware that when Trump goes campaigning for a republican candidate for senator or house seat, that he flies on a government issued plane and uses gas-guzzling EVs for the last mile or so of the trips.
He needs to be impeached for using government property to run the government and for all his trips. He probably also eats on the government’s dime. Geesh!

How, in any way, does your comment relate to using taxpayer money to fund campaign commercials? Show me where in Title 11 of the CFR that the FEC rules don’t apply to those who don’t take a salary. Just for clarification, Trump receives $400,000 a year in annual salary for being president. The salary is donated.

But the problem is dual-tracked.
First, the squishes — and I’m sorry, but re-running a 2024 PAC ad, but funded by the government (and that’s literally what one of them being run is) is a terrible idea. It only pushes the middle layer voters away.
Second, and this is just a longstanding reality of midterm elections — these ads do NOT appeal to what people (erroneously, in my opinion) call ‘RINOs’. And hate me all you want, but *those* are the critical voters we need to turn out and vote R. They are *NOT* Trump fans, even if they voted for him in 2024. Putting him front-and-center hurts, not helps.
Maybe this gambit is about luring infrequent MAGA voters to the polls for midterm elections they normally don’t turn out for. I hope so and hope it works.
But, the reality? I don’t think it will.
Yes, I’m an ironclad, straight ticket R vote.... but - the squishes either won’t vote or worse, will just vote their pocketbook. And not living in a bubble? You may not like to hear it — but a lot of stalwart conservatives and reliable Republican voters simply aren’t buying what MAGA is selling. Go ahead and call me whatever names you like - I’ll still be voting R simply because the alternative is worse. But... that doesn’t change the basic reality that longtime GOP voters who just want limited government, lower taxes, balanced budgets, and a quiet/lesser federal government are being told to pound sand.
If they didn't also want our borders secured, then they were never Conservatives to begin with.

I have always and never wavered from pure ‘rule of law’ as my primary on immigration. I believe in immigration - but follow the law.
The problem I see is twofold:
1. I look at Vivek Ramaswamy in Ohio. He’s saying all the things are pitch-perfect conservative — the government isn’t your mommy or daddy; you’re responsible for your success and failure... and in a red state? He’s a 50/50 coin flip.
2. I also look at Bo French and his crap in Texas (and “railroad commission” is a big deal - it controls oil/gas leases). If you have a problem with dark-skinned students wearing cowboy hats and cheering for the Longhorns?
I hate the “heritage American” crap. It’s DEI for losers.
