WASHINGTON, D.C. — Forty-three percent of Americans now have a positive view of socialism, marking the first time this figure has exceeded 39% in Gallup’s trend since 2010. Socialism still trails capitalism and free enterprise in public favorability but now ranks ahead of big business. Small business remains the clear leader among the five economic concepts tested, with 95% viewing it positively.
Gallup has measured Americans’ overall views of these five economic concepts periodically since 2010, with the latest update conducted Aug. 3-24.
Over the longer term, Americans have become less positive about most of the market-oriented concepts Gallup tracks. Since 2010, positive views of big business have fallen by 14 percentage points, free enterprise by nine points and capitalism by six points. Small business is the exception, with views of it unchanged. Meanwhile, positive impressions of socialism have risen by seven points.
Most of the increase in socialism’s positive rating through 2025 reflected increasingly positive views among Democrats, rising from 50% in 2010 to 66% last year. The latest uptick, however, comes entirely from political independents, whose positive rating jumped from 37% last year to 45% today. Democrats’ rating is essentially unchanged, at 65%, while Republicans’ remains below 15%.
Independents’ positive rating of socialism has risen by eight points this year, as their view of big business has fallen to a new low of 32% after several years of decline. Socialism now ranks ahead of big business among independents, although capitalism, free enterprise and small business remain more positively viewed.

Socialism is the backup quarterback.
Eventually though once he plays, people realize why he was the backup quarterback.
So, here’s the Bottom Line in the Gallup Survey...
Americans’ views of economic concepts have shifted noticeably over the past 15 years. Capitalism, free enterprise and especially big business are viewed less positively than they once were, while socialism has gained ground. Those changes have been most pronounced among Democrats and younger adults, but this year’s uptick in socialism’s appeal reflects a novel shift among independents.
Yet the trends don’t indicate wholesale movement away from markets and toward socialism. Small business remains nearly universally popular, and free enterprise continues to receive broadly positive ratings — including among Democrats and younger adults, who are more positive toward socialism than other groups.
It’s the TREND that for me, is worrisome.
Education has been changed, it isn’t that they quit teaching, they just changed what they are teaching the kids.
It was cruel for those who viewed socialism negatively to have such a large amount of the percentage. Those with a positive view of socialism demanded that they be given part of the percentage. Some of those with a negative view were pressured into giving up some of their percentage points. Once those with a positive view of socialism have more than 50 percentage points, they will proceed to take the rest of the percentage points from those with a negative view and claim it as their own.
The problem, as Rush Limbaugh used to say, isn’t the unequal distribution of wealth, it’s the unequal distribution of Capitalism.
Globalism is what is creating the divide between rich and poor, more than anything.
As more Boomers die off, this is (unfortunately) the future.
Prepare accordingly.

As far as Im concerned Socialism IS Communism..its ironic, people are FLEEING countries that are Communist to come here yet you have idiots who want that here..all in the promise of FREE FREE FREE, the only ones that will be rich are the Govt, the rest of us will be in the bread lines

Exactly! It's not as if there has been good economic news lately from socialist nations.
I have a saying that I've never seen a criticism of free market capitalism, because critics who claim to be against it always wind up criticizing some corruption of it instead. The alternative to free markets is slave markets where fraud or coercion is used to force people into transactions they would otherwise not make. We are seeing a lot of 'crony capitalism' and other statist or otherwise corruption deviations from free market capitalism lately, and so the socialists are just pointing out flaws in the other guys' slave markets and touting their own slave market scheme as an alternative. The real solution is always to claw our way back to a free market.
They're not being taught socialism. They're seeing it with their own eyes.
Every brown person in the country gets free everything. Housing (Section 8), food (SNAP, WIC), health care (Medicaid), walking around money (TANF) government grift (small business loans for "Learing Centers") and myriad other gibs.
And they're saying, "I want some of that!"
White Gen-Z kids can't get squat while every Quantravious, Jarpreet, Shaniqua, Abdul, and Juanita are having the largesse of our treasury thrown at them by the fist-full.
The “Red or Green” chile pepper eaters all suck. Pimping Socialism below the Rio Grande is the reason why their lazy asses wound up in Gringo land. Their asses really need to go before they do to America what they did to their craphouses in Mexico.
