The majority of today's immigrants, particularly the illegals, appear to loathe everything about the United States except its wealth.
Far too many of them are effectively saying, “We detest capitalism, your system of government, your Christian faith, Judeo-Christian values, and your culture, all of which we are zealously trying to change. But do continue to pay us and put us up so that we can live comfortably without needing to work.”
Also, “We much prefer the brutality, stonings, misogyny, pedophilia, arranged marriages, and gang rape of young women (and perhaps occasionally a goat or two) to what we have found here. Which is why we are going to eventually force you to dispense with Christianity, dogs, pork, alcohol, and popular music, all of which are sinful, evil, bad news. Not Halal!”
Who the hell would go along with that?
What kind of sad-sack civilization would tolerate this?
The answers to those questions are: far too damn many of us, as driven by the communists, the karens, the AWFULs, and assorted other indoctrinated and mentally ill folks.
These allegedly “tolerant” and “welcoming” clowns should try going to Somalia, Afghanistan, Iran, or any of dozens of other Muslim nations, attempt to get them to change their “religion,” customs, and culture ... and see how that goes. They could unfurl their “Gays for Gaza” banners and feel the love.
The overwhelmingly vast majority of previous (and legal) immigrants, be they English, Norwegian, Irish, German, et al., desperately wanted to assimilate with America … and become Americans. They were not looking for a handout, only a chance to succeed with hard work and a clean nose.

I just saw a Twitter post by a woman who couldn’t find a job because she doesn’t speak Spanish. She says she shouldn’t be required to learn Spanish to work in the United States.

We have the immigration is great crowd coming up along with abysmal birth rates. India now is no longer replacing its population. We will see about 2 billion more born in Africa by 2100. So the struggle will be those advocating for African migration vs those who want a meaningful jobs driven immigration policy.

The first mass wave immigration (the Irish in the 1840s) resulted in the Dash American. Every wave since has resulted in the same thing. When you allow large groups of people in and allow them to settle in enclaves they do not become you, you have to accommodate them.
Trickle immigration is where they come in as families and defuse through out the nation. This is generally a net positive. They become you.
Wave or Mass immigration that does not happen.

The very sad thing is that there are countless millions of people of all ethnicities that love and revere the USA, our polity, etc. and would love to be Americans. Those weren’t the ones identified and brought here. So those who don’t respect or want to be part of the American ideal were brought here in large numbers, and those who do are still trapped where they are.
And I honestly don’t know how this can be fixed at this point. Even if the policy was reversed, all of those people are still undermining the culture - to not only our detriment, but to their own.
Street tacos and burrito vendors are the people working and running businesses. Those aren’t the ones I’m concerned with.
Cultural Marxists have convinced people that every single problem in the world is our fault, and we owe it to these people to let them in.
