All of Ed Sheeran’s support acts quit US tour over Macklemore Palestine row

All of the support acts for Ed Sheeran's US tour have quit after a rapper was dropped from the setlist over his pro-Palestine views.

Beoga, the Irish folk band that collaborated on Sheeran's hit Galway Girl, are among four acts that have refused to continue on the tour in solidarity with Macklemore, who was dropped after calling for a "free Palestine".

In a statement, Beoga said that Macklemore had been silenced by "Zionist lobbies" and that the group believed in "dialogue as a means of progressing the plight of the Palestinian people".

Macklemore, real name Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, was dropped from Sheeran's US tour after performing two nights as a special guest at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Three other musical acts said on Tuesday they were quitting Sheeran's Loop tour over the decision, including Finneas, Lukas Graham and Aaron Rowe.

Finneas, the Grammy-winning producer and brother of Billie Eilish, said in a statement confirming his departure that "artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed."

nobody buys tickets to see the opening acts so I’m quite sure nobody is going to miss any of these 3rd tier musicians. I am sure Ed will have no trouble finding replacements who would love to have a stage to self-promote, or he can just start his show earlier. No loss!

This happened because Kraft and some other owners told Sheeran they would not be allowed to perform in their stadiums if they kept that despicable anti-semite on the bill.
