Americans who still treat the polling industry as a weather report are flying blind into a midterm general election.
The primary season just finished exposing an industry that has been rotting for at least a decade. The misses were not small. They were serial, public, and in select cases, worse than incompetent. Americans need a reliable map of races that will decide who writes tax law, runs committees, and sets the country’s direction. Right now, much of the map is junk.
In Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary, polls had the Islamic leftist Abdul Mohammed El-Sayed ahead by double digits on average. He won by one point. In Wisconsin’s blue gubernatorial primary, democratic socialist Francesca Hong led by large margins in survey after survey. She lost. In Minnesota’s Senate primary, mainstream liberal Angie Craig was shown even or ahead of uber-woke Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan. Flanagan won by nearly 20 points.
In Florida’s Democratic Senate primary, #Resistance kingpin Alexander Vindman was the national donor favorite. Polling indicated that he was the double-digit leader over the obscure state lawmaker Angie Nixon, a Democratic Socialists of America member. Nixon beat Vindman by double digits.
On the Republican side, surveys had James Fishback, a fringe Zoomer social media personality who appreciates Zohran Mamdani, closing on the President Donald J. Trump-endorsed Byron Donalds. Fishback finished around 11 percent. Donalds took about 48 percent. Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, a Gov. Ron DeSantis appointee, took about 25 percent, principally from old-school movement conservatives.
Those were not rounding errors. They were a collapse of the product the public is sold as science. Needless to say, this list is not exhaustive of polling misfires around the country.

I get tired of telling people polls are not predictive they are programming, just ignore them.
My favorite was the Iowa pollster in ‘24 who thought Kamala was ahead. It got her ‘fired’. She was 67 wand wanted to go into retirement with a bang.
They are obviously intentional, sowing doubt and despair among conservatives in order to keep them home on election day. The leftists will be out there to pick other's pockets no matter what.
“She was 67 wand wanted to go into retirement with a bang.”
...instead with a screen door on her ass. And she’s as big a loser now at 69.
The Marquette polls were also taken before Hong’s controversial 2021 social media posts about cancelling Thanksgiving made national news the first week of August (the fallout continued when she initially refused to walk back the statement in a CNN interview before reversing course in an interview with Politico, telling the outlet it’s her favorite holiday).
Check back in mid October.
And don’t forget to check Fox News for James Carville’s election predictions, because, after all, he predicted Kamala was going to win in 2024.
Election polls should be illegal until polls close. They are all crap anyway just like betting odds.

So, I want to ask, so? You don’t think a dozen things in both directions are going to impact how people vote between those polls and election day?
Which makes polls useful, *if* done right, when they taken. Full stop.
Bkmk
This close to the election they are all push polls.
Polls are indistinguishable from fairy tales. Every result, all the internals, every statistic requires blind faith trust in the pollster anyone who does so is a fool.
Author is wrong with this example.
Prior to his primary defeat, polls for the 2026 U.S. Senate race in Florida generally showed Vindman trailing Ashley Moody:
Moody leads Nixon by 8 points, Vindman by 10, in new poll of Florida Senate race
Moody leads Vindman, 50%-40%.

The caller, a pleasant young woman read from a script of questions, mostly about the coming election which featured George H W Bush vs Michael Dukakis.
The questions first established my party, voting record, age, and other demo stuff. Then, for whom did I plan to vote in the forthcoming elections. When I replied "Bush" the nice young caller did what she could to get me to change..."Are you sure? Is it possible that you could change your mind before election day? That sort of thing.
The California poll, IIRC, has maintained a rep for leftie bias (AI online disagrees.)
That said, no person in his or her right mind would ever respond to a poll in these days of privacy invasion etc.
Bottom line, take all polls with a sack of salt.
And that's my opinion.
