Trump Catastrophically Miscalculated in Georgia
NYTimes ^ | 09/14/2026

When a political player starts drawing personal insults from President Trump and his people, it is a pretty good sign that his star is on the rise.

For Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia, that moment arrived this summer. In July, Mr. Trump dubbed the fresh-faced lawmaker “Pee-wee Herman.” The next month, upset over Mr. Ossoff’s criticism of the president, one aide called Mr. Ossoff a “feminine theater kid” and a “lightweight loser,” and another derided him as “a miserable person” and “the biggest cuck loser in politics,” while deploying a sexually explicit moniker unfit for a family-friendly publication.

Mr. Ossoff gives as good as he gets. Maybe better. He has derided Mr. Trump as “a failed president,” “a national disgrace” and a “draft-dodging crook.” This anti-Trump feistiness has boosted the senator’s standing in his party and turbocharged his re-election campaign. Once talked about as the most vulnerable Democratic senator of the cycle, he is now being talked up as a hot presidential possibility for 2028.

I don't see how the election in Georgia goes to the R's. Both Senate and Governor. I don't see a path where Bottoms and Offoff loses in GA. Texas is another R mess we have to contend with.

Consider the source. I think Republicans will do very well in Georgia. You can tell the Dems are scared.

R’s don’t have a chance. Bottoms can pull a Biden and stay in her basement and win GA gov. Not sure where you’re located but the Bottoms signs in GA are 5 to 1...

Bottoms has a horrible re ord as mayor of Atlanta and was corrupt from the get go. A young black girl was murdered at a street Corner in Atlanta when Bottoms let armed gang members control the corner. She fired police officers based solely on news video news reports. The police officers had to sue to get their jobs back. Ossoff will be another party vote regardless off the issue.

....Ohio, Alaska, Iowa.

Each of the above being supposedly deep, dark, crimson, maroon, burgundy “red” states.

Each of the above (including Texas too but not Georgia; only because nobody in their right mind thinks Georgia is truly “red” anymore) are at serious risk of electing Democrat Senators and/or Governors.

Even Florida, where the incumbent GOP Senator should win easily over her drooling radical leftist opponent but the Governor race is a tossup because Byron Donalds is a flawed, divisive candidate — according to enough voters to make a difference. Donalds *should* still win and should make a decent Governor though he has the toughest act in the country to follow.

Of all the nightmares Republicans (and Americans) will have to endure when the votes are counted in November, Florida should not be one of them. But there’s a non-zero probability that it might be.

Some people are unable to consider the source.

People get their panties in a twist with hysterics on the basis of a New York Times article whose sole purpose is to cause cause despair and hopelessness in the weak minded, and blame it all on Trump.

I am glad I don’t have to share a foxhole with many of those types. They would bug out at the sound of their own breathing and run for cover.

Thank God our leadership isn’t composed of those people right now. They may make mistakes, but at least they fight and don’t surrender as they pee their pants.

Americans only like to vote for a “Winner!”. The NYTs is making sure we know who that winner is even before anyone else knows.

Recall fraud pollster Frank Luntz bragging to Hunter Biden about how much he did for his father. Hence he deserved something or another, don’t recall what he wanted now.

Bottoms owns the vote in Metro Atlanta(Huge.) She owns the vote in Savannaha, Macon, Augusta, Columbus and Albany...All large voting blocks in GA. She owns the black female vote 100%. Black male 90%. White female 75%. When you start looking at the numbers it paints a bad picture. I see signs for Bottoms on the same properties I saw Obama signs...Some are really surprising.

I’d agree on the Senate — but the gubernatorial race looks doable to me. RCP polling list - sparse though it is - has the race with the MOE in every poll other than a 3 month old one (granted, it’s just 3 polls!).

I’d agree it’s time to just cut bait on the Senate seat, but Bottoms has a lot of baggage and keeping the governor’s seat in R hands looks quite doable for Jackson.

Trump was a known brand decades before he ran for President.

A typical Republican is a generic RINO. You can copy and paste....

The Black City State of Atlanta rules Georgia just as the Black City State of Philly rules Pennsylvania
