Democrats hope to retake control of the House, and to use that power to probe Trump’s business ventures, legal maneuvers and policies.
House Democrats are eagerly preparing to wield a power they do not yet have.
Favored to regain the majority in November’s midterm elections — and with little official business to consider in the handful of days left in this session — Democrats’ attention has turned to mapping out an accountability agenda that would pull President Donald Trump, his administration and his family into a harsh spotlight next year.
The Washington Post spoke to a dozen Democratic members and staffers poised to run committees should the party retake the House. They said they are preparing sweeping investigations of Trump’s growing wealth in office, his remaking of the federal government and his pursuit of his political enemies. In recent weeks, staffers have connected with outside groups for guidance on how to conduct effective investigations.
“There’s so much corruption and grift that it’s going to take the entire House on the Democratic side to do investigations appropriately,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California), who would probably lead investigations as chair the Oversight Committee in a Democratic-held House, said in an interview. “We are all talking.”
At the same time, some Democrats who were on the Hill during Trump’s first term are cautioning their colleagues about overpromising what their investigations can accomplish. The White House in a statement was dismissive of Democrats’ efforts. Meanwhile, officials there are strategizing how to block the investigations if Democrats take the majority.
“Democrats have no agenda to improve the lives of the American people, just plans to obstruct and...”

I have it on good authority that in 1987 he returned a movie to Blockbuster a day late. And he was not kind, he did not rewind.

This crap is what’s coming if republicans nationwide do not get off their proverbial @$$e$ and get to the polls and defeat the communist red tide and muslim terrorist thug takeover of the Republic. If you do not vote, then don’t freaking (sub other word if you like) cry, whine, and bitch when the commies start taxing, taking away tax cuts, cutting border support, and destroying what Trump HAS accomplished. Sure, we have a lot of high prices and an unpopular war, but the alternative is communist crap for the next two years. Dang it, GO VOTE!!! Get your friends and family, put them in the back of the pickup, and take them to vote.

I agree with you.
I hope this resonates with people.
Unfortunately, some on our side, some conservatives on Free Republic, openly deride the idea of just voting for Republicans, if the Republican candidates in their state or congressional district are too liberal to suit them.
I think such people should think in terms like you stated, that voting Republican will block these nasty Democrats from being able to do what they want to do.
We would all love to vote for Free Republic style conservatives to Congress and other public offices, but, realistically, that won’t happen now for most of us. We can hope to build conservatism in the future, but for now, it’s a laudable goal to vote for Republicans, even if they are too RINO to suit you, because such Republicans will block Democrats from taking power.

Idiots. The a-holes that weaponized justice against Trump say HE’S going after political enemies?
Boy they think we are stupid.
I’m sick of the “favored to take the House” crap. There are almost no toss up seats these days. And the redraw maps give the a GOP an edge.
Plus they have a lot more money than the Dems. The Dems are eating themselves with DSA nonsense.
And even if they took the House nothing will fet trough the Senate. And Trump would veto anything. They won’t have a veto proof majority.
Even with Congress gone, same result. Go ahead and impeach. They’ll never get 67 Senators to remove Trump.
It’s them and WAPO and others boosting their weak base. They are losing black and Hispanic men.
