US President Donald Trump has said he would 'love to see' a unified Ireland during a two-day visit to meet with political leaders and visit his golf course.

US President Donald Trump has said he would 'love to see' a unified Ireland during a two-day visit to meet with political leaders and visit his golf course.

Mr Trump made the comments during a meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Dublin, saying it will 'happen eventually' and would be a 'great thing'.

The President spoke while sitting alongside the Taoiseach at the Farmleigh Estate. Asked about uniting the island, Mr Trump said: 'I don't want to cause any trouble, but I'll tell you I would love to see a unified Ireland.'

He continued: 'I think it would be a great feather in everybody's cap if that happened. It's going to happen eventually.

'You know how I see it, it's going to happen eventually; it may as well happen now... I think it would be a fantastic thing.

'Now the UK will have something to say about it, obviously, but I think it would be a great thing.'

The President added that the Irish have 'been great friends of America' and said the relationship between the two countries is 'fantastic'.

Good luck with that. The Brits are the least of their problems. Now they’ll have to fight to leave the caliphate.

The Northern Irish have no desire to unify with the Republic.

Reunite with Ireland or stay in the Islamic Caliphate of a Londonistan?

Out of the pan, and into the fire.

The UK welcomes Muslim invaders.
And so does the Republic of Ireland.

🙁

---- " 'I don't want to cause any trouble, but I'll tell you I would love to see a unified Ireland'."

So did the Daily Mail quote. It is amusing, given that 1) the Starmer government -- " 10 Downing Street" -- sent political operatives to campaign against President Trump, 2) the barking back at tariffs by Canada's Carney { who was the Bank England chief and whose official "sovereign" is King Chuck) with "we are at war" with the US, and a couple of other points suggests this is another clever troll of the British establishment, so "beloved" of the British these days. It's a bit of trolling.

If I recall correctly, the war with Britain is merely on hold.

Do you have polling data for that? Ireland is one of the better economies in the last few years.

You’d think so. But according to some reports, the Royal Navy currently has only one fully operational seagoing warship, the HMS Duncan.

So you’d essentially be asking them to send the whole Royal Navy to the strait.

Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves…

(But not so much these days.)

"Do you have polling data for that?"

My HTML skills are not the best but here is a link to Wikipedia with references to the back up data. It shows that only about a third of the people want unification. That has been consistent with everything I have heard since the seventies.

Shut up Donald.

Someone should tell him that there’s over 800 years of history as to why Northen Ireland is different.

The Vikings had something to do with it. Donald might even remember the Vikings, his mother being Scottish and all.

Whether Northrn Ireland evolves to the point that it wants to unite with the rest of the island is for them to decide.

I don’t think we’d like it very much if some foreign leader told us we should give Texas to Mexico.

Anyway, Trump’s problem is that evidently he doesn’t have a senior advisor near him, someone who would counsel a bit caution with public statements.

Land has no nationality, it only has ownership. The Irish haven’t owned the Six Counties in about 800 years. The Mayans owned the Yucatan more recently than the Irish owned Northern Ireland, and you don’t hear them whining about it.

Some people are a little slow on the uptake.
