Chinese entities supplied Iran with satellite images of an air base in Jordan before and after a deadly missile strike that killed three US service members, according to a report.
The US has “connected” the high-resolution satellite imagery of Muwaffaq Salti Air Base to Iran’s July 17 ballistic missile attack on the facility, US officials told the Wall Street Journal.
The officials declined to identify the Chinese companies that allegedly provided the images to Iran and didn’t accuse the Chinese government of direct involvement.
The missile attack, which targeted a housing area on the base, killed Army Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York; First Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Hawaii; and Pfc. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Texas.
Four other US service members were wounded.
Chinese officials reportedly demanded proof and refused to acknowledge that Chinese companies may be helping Iran when senior US officials have brought up the satellite imagery linked to the July 17 attack, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Financial Times reported in April that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) secretly acquired Beijing’s TEE-01B spy satellite in September 2024 for about $36 million, and has used it to monitor key US military sites in the Middle East.
Under the agreement, the IRGC receives access to ground stations operated by Emposat, a Beijing-based satellite control and data services provider, according to the outlet.
It’s unclear if TEE-01B and Emposat are the Chinese entities that US officials believe Iran used to carry out the July 17 missile attack.
President Trump and top administration officials have publicly downplayed the impact possible foreign assistance has had on the Iran war.

Well, well, I see a little tit for tat in the Chinese future.
Wait
Trump said he trusts China and believes they wont assist Iran.
Recall :
President Donald Trump stated in July 2026 that he trusts Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin at their word that they will not supply weapons or otherwise enable Iran in its conflict with the United States.
scripps.
So China has been lying to naive Trump?
Just shocking.
We’ve been doing our proxy wars for decades. We can’t now say it’s wrong because China does it to us. Maybe we should first stop all our proxy wars, then we can make a stance against countries doing it to us.

Shocking that Trump didn't know about the China-Iran military partnership agreement that went into effect in 2022, otherwise he would never put our troops into such a predicament. Maybe someone should tell our geniuses that Russia also has an alliance with Iran, too? Gear up men......
China is our only true near peer adversary regards conventional major theater war. China is in economic terms already a greater power than we are - like that or not in terms of PPP, manufacturing, science and engineering patents...
We currently, given the Middle East and Ukraine (which our highly experienced and high IQ Biden got us into), are somewhat tied up AND we don't want escalation or even greater Chinese engagement / involvement: https://www.reuters.com/world/china/iran-get-chinese-shoulder-launched-missile-systems-weeks-sources-say-2026-07-29/
China gets some of their oil from Iran and we are blockading them (~14%): https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/chinas-heavy-reliance-iranian-oil-imports-2026-03-21/
Trump is calming the situation.
What you call naive, is skilled statesmanship which you didn't get from Biden.

Let me ask you this, assuming you supported the Ukraine war and see Biden with all his experience and high IQ as a real leader: https://www.c-span.org/clip/public-affairs-event/user-clip-biden-defends-academic-credentials-in-response-to-new-hampshire-voter-1987/4828661
—How has this war in Ukraine made the average American any safer?
—How has this war in Ukraine made the average American any wealthier?
—How has this war in Ukraine given us any greater freedom or liberty?
Other than lectures about pie in the sky theories and rhetoric, what actual American “interest” was served by getting us into that war? https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/
The US provides Ukraine with targeting information on Russia…and Iran gets help from their allies.
I am not sure what the “news” is here.
This is how wars work these days; They are international and a lot takes place from space.
Taiwan sure could use a ton of our weaponry. Thanks for the go ahead, China.
Any number of commercial satellites could have provided the info.
The big deal is that the US military knew these things and more but apparently took no measures to place decoys or shuffle high value targets.
Don’t know about stopping proxy wars, think of all the State Department and NGO panties wadded up so tight, but now that you mention it, aren’t we doing the same thing for Ukraine?
Right. Time to shoot that sucker down.
Knock that satellite out of the sky, and others like it…
Also, let us not forget that it was the Clinton Administration that sold some of our rocket technology to the Chinese in the first place. Their spy satellites might not have made it into orbit without that technology.
Spot on. My post is not to say whether we should or shouldn’t, simply that we are in no place to say whether it is right or wrong.
Moral equivalency is what is causing our demise.
If you want us to proclaim full Machiavelli on our enemies, so be it.
Wrong and right is not the way our enemies think. For them, we are always wrong and they are always right.
Give Xi the Maduro treatment.
He is going to turn himself in fairly soon by coming here.
I must say that I am shocked. Shocked I say.
My my.
Probably because Trump is messing with their oil supply.
