President Donald Trump closed out night one of the Republican National Committee (RNC) first-ever midterm convention with one simple plea: “Pretend that I’m on the ballot.”
“I’m asking you to pretend that I’m on the ballot. I’m on the ballot. I’m on the ballot. Just one more time, because if we lose, you’re going to lose your border, you’re going to lose your tax cuts, you’re going to lose your safety and security, you’re going to lose your wealth,” Trump said.
It’s an important ask, given how Republicans have struggled to turn out voters when Trump is not literally on the ballot. But while Trump’s name may not literally appear on the ballot, it is for all intents and purposes next to every single “R” on the ticket.
Trump’s agenda is on the ballot. But more importantly, so are his accomplishments.
Over the past two years, Trump has used his authority to shut down the southern border, restore immigration enforcement, dismantle federal DEI programs, and reverse Biden’s ridiculous definition of sex, among other things. Congressional Republicans have funded some of that agenda, like immigration enforcement, and passed Trump’s signature One Big Beautiful Bill ….
Securing a Republican Congress is a priority. Many of Trump’s aforementioned accomplishments were through executive order in order to restore sanity more immediately. None of that would have been easy or even possible without a Republican Congress that provided funding or stepped aside and let the president do what he promised.
That said, congressional Republicans have also still failed to codify a lot of Trump’s work — which is why the election matters even more so. Executive orders can be — and typically are — rescinded by the next president.

Almost *nothing* done by Trump has been codified into law by the spineless GOP.
Everything he has accomplished with still be accomplished wether we win the midterms or not...but almost none of what he has been accomplished will survive the next democrat president....not even for a few days.
Yes cutting off their noses to spite their faces has long been a strategy of staying home Republicans.
You don’t get to fight with the army you want, you fight with the army you have, and like it or not, Trump is the army we have.
Losing is not an option, despite whatever you may think of Trump right now.

I don’t have to ‘like’ any politician. The war we fight in this midterm is really mostly going to be about Iran. Either this is problem we are going to legacy our children, and our children’s children to die for, or we are going to take care of it before Jan 2029.
Unfortunately for the country, it looks like he's actually trying his hardest to do this.
Rarely are people motivated to vote based on issues. Issues are something to gripe about infront of the screen.
People vote for Candidates on the ballot. In GA Jackson & Collins at the top.
More than anything else, the people who sometimes vote, and who make the difference in winning and losing an election is because a friend, a neighbor, a stranger, somebody at church, anybody... played the role of ground troop to get out the vote.
Phone banks seem only 10% as effective as door knockers. One big reason for that is we hang up on telemarketing strangers before we hear their pitch. We rarely slam the door in the face of a door knocker.
Social Media, email? I’d like to see the statistics. My guess is 10% as effective as the phone, 1% as effective as door knockers.
I say “door knockers”. But it is really in person, face to face. It can be in the bleachers of the high school football game, at church, at the club, or a literal door knocker.
Baloney. If American voters had known this in 2024, Trump would have lost to Osama bin Laden in that election.
Its the independents, the quasi dems who support potus in elections, etc.
The article should be written to them, the independents, the forgotten man, the normies out there who know they will be screwed by either party. Who wanted smaller government and less inflation, less spending, less foreign wars etc

Think 2016. It was Trump vs. Hillary. In the back of our minds was the empty SCOTUS seat that the turtle held up. He wanted the election, therefore the people to decide. The thought of Hillary appointing a judge for a generation raised the stakes amongst all of us. This time it’s the DSA’s.
Just a hunch.
So many victories. So many reversals of prior awful policies. Multiple incumbents ousted in primaries for more conservative alternatives, and still more chose not to run for re-election seeing the handwriting on the wall, knowing they were unlikely to prevail in a primary.
And yet the usual suspects still say “stay home.”
The Left owes most of its successes in entrenching itself into our institutions and damaging our culture to those who have “stayed home.” They have no greater friend and ally to their cause. And neither does the establishment.
“Losing is not an option, despite whatever you may think of Trump right now.”
Unless Congress codifies the MAGA agenda into law, the day Trump walks out of office government goes back to business as usual. We can vote Republican, but he Republicans have the majority of the House and Senate and they have proven they will not pass conservative legislation to reign in government spending, impeach communist judges, reform and simplify the tax code, eliminate Obamacare which has destroyed the health care system, turn education back over to the states, pass election integrity legislation.
Accepting mediocrity, which seems to be a particular core competency of Republican politicians, is not a viable strategy for the survival of the Republic. Voting for a GOP majority in Congress has made little difference in arresting the decline of the country or improving the performance of government.
Trump threw it all away, by himself.

Carlson chose to interview Cooper, whom he endorsed as “the best and most honest popular historian in the United States” to learn exactly how World War II didn’t happen. According to Cooper — and Carlson nodded along the entire time — Winston Churchill was perhaps “the chief villain of the Second World War” and “primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did.” It’s true that Hitler did not want or expect Britain to fight. He wanted Britain to acquiesce to German dominance of Europe from the Urals to Gibraltar and subsume the UK to Nazi interests. This is all a matter of historical record. Britain could fight or submit — that was Hitler’s choice, not Churchill’s.
FLASHBACK: Carlson chose to interview Isaac to find out how the Jewish State of Israel treats Christians. Isaac is a priest who neither lives nor works in Israel and who uses the loaded phrase “Occupied Palestine” as his location on his Twitter/X profile. He is a Palestinian Christian from Palestinian-controlled Bethlehem, where Christian ministers serve at the mercy of the Palestinian Authority.
Recently, Carlson has repeatedly taken to praising sharia law and suggesting Islam and its totalitarian legal code offer an inspiring moral clarity in contrast with today’s Western decadence. He has visited virtually seemingly every country in the Arab world, produced propaganda films for a few of them, and even announced his attention to buy a house a Qatar. He has called Hamas not a jihadist but a political organization, said he’d apologize to the family of Osama bin Laden, and has severely downplayed the Americans who have been killed in recent decades by Islamism. And earlier this week, the eponymous Tucker Carlson Network, in a seemingly earnest post better suited for a satirical Babylon Bee headline, offered this cherry on top: “Muslims love Jesus.”
