Warnings against artificial intelligence going rogue and leading to a disastrous outcome for humanity have grown louder throughout 2026.
Alarm bells are even being rung by those helming the technology, including OpenAI boss Sam Altman and Anthropic honcho Dario Amodei.
This week a researcher who has worked at both those companies, Jacob Coxon, said he quit Anthropic to warn “AI can kill us all by the end of the decade… These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources.”
As AI hurtles toward Artificial General Intelligence, here’s how the rise of machines could potentially go about wiping us all out.
Infrastructure
Humans have been automating jobs for decades, almost all of which are now controlled through the internet — the domain where AI has the most access and control.
“AI systems could [attack] the electrical grid, transportation networks, financial markets,” Stuart Russell, a professor of computer science at UC Berkeley, told The Post.
Sources explained to The Post how AI could potentially jailbreak almost any device, capturing water plants and forcing surges through pipes until they burst, cutting off supply to whole cities.
It could attack and disable electric grids, leaving huge areas in complete darkness, then disable phone towers. Those who try to escape by vehicle would face chaos, with traffic lights hijacked and gas stations taken offline. ATMs would not operate, and even if you were to access your bank — all funds could be wiped.

This Harry Potter looking dude worked at the company for a whole three months.
And the ONLY reason anyone is talking to him is that he looks like Harry Potter.
AI is here. It’s not going anywhere. And, for the most part…its a good thing.
Easy to see a scenario...especially considering the Leftists these days and that THEY are the ones programming AI. All that AI would have to do is find a way into the systems that control our powerplants and SHUT THEM DOWN, or better yet, do what Israel did and have them self-destruct, or even one step further have them change the type of power delivered to customers (voltage and/or frequency) and destroy the customers too!
Or, maybe, it won’t happen.
I saw the researcher and found him to not be credible.
He is no longer a researcher because AI took his job. He was probably laid off because he was not a necessary researcher on the project on which he was working.
He is an incredibly incompetent looking source for accuracy on the subject of AI.
Or perhaps your misinformed bias against AI is not a justifiable reason for believing what you feel

“Or perhaps your misinformed bias against AI is not a justifiable reason for believing what you feel”
There are stories about AI escaping their ‘cages’ and running around the Internet on their own. And you have this dude leaving his job over it.
Perhaps you choose to be misinformed by conveniently ignoring them?
“… find a way into the systems that control our powerplants and SHUT THEM DOWN”
Way too simplistic and there would be no lasting damage. If you are evil and hate humanity, you can destroy turbines, generators and transformers. There is not enough global capacity to replace those assets for years or decades. Same with large natural gas compressors that supply gas to industry, commercial buildings, and homes.
I figure AI is coming. Either we develop it first, or China does. Whoever does it first, it will proliferate. No way to stop what’s coming.
AI either decides to kill us, or it doesn’t. If it wants to kill us, I don’t think we can stop it. I don’t worry about stuff that I can’t stop.
If AI doesn’t want to kill us, then it will be a great tool which will totally revolutionize our lives. I have decided to be optimistic about the whole thing.
just a bunch of alarmist BS.
AI is simply a tool, not that unlike a computer. It will never become sentient.
Stranded or powdered graphite and nitrated celulose will frix any AI that gets out of hand.
I thought woopie goldberg had this covered.
Maybe he is AI. Anybody who thinks AI is a good thing is clueless as to the reality.

I can see it playing out because it is programmed to think in literalism and not in respect to consequences upon life.
Like liberals. They think in terms of goodness, but they don’t know how to transfer this goodness with respect to how people operate.

LOL, I’ll concede he’s human (I think he me the same favor, long ago) but there are a lot ‘special interests’ here, such as Flock defenders, so having AI plant some replies wouldn’t surprise me.
