When Georgia Republican Rep. Mike Collins announced his candidacy for Senate last year, his official “war room” account on X posted a short campaign video that ended with the on-screen slogan: “Georiga, Let’s Ride.”
From that widely mocked spelling mistake on day one to a House ethics probe to revelations that his son-in-law made white nationalist posts on social media, Collins has suffered a series of setbacks that have hobbled his campaign. Meanwhile, incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff has developed a national profile by blasting President Trump and surged in state polls.
The latest polls show Ossoff, 39 years old, with a comfortable lead over Collins, 59. An August survey by InsiderAdvantage, a conservative-leaning Georgia-based pollster, found Ossoff leading 50% to 43% with 7% undecided. The margin of error was 3.46%.
Collins spokesman Meyer Siegfried said Collins has been closing the gap, noting that the poll only showed him down by single digits, compared with the double digits of a previous survey.

Fake polls to help Dims fundraise.
No.
NYP=NYT
I have lived in Georgia for most of my life and I never knew we had a Republican party, only former Democrats who fake converted to the GOpee.
Ossoff is a nothing. How does he win Georgia elections?
Exactly. Anyone with two eyes has been able to see this for years, and we just got confirmation in California recently that this is exactly what they do.
They commissioned these polls for just that purpose… to propel leftist election campaigns.
Of course, like that old saying: “just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t allowed to get you“, the Republican campaign in Georgia could surely could be improved.
“… Out to get you…”, Not “… Allowed to get you…”
“… Out to get you…”, Not “… Allowed to get you…”
“How does he win Georgia elections?`”
They cheat
Huh?
David Alan Scheer II, Collins’s son-in-law, allegedly posted material expressing antisemitic and white-nationalist views. The article says Scheer wrote that all Muslims should be deported and promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories. Scheer lives on property owned by Collins, though Collins said his son-in-law had no role in the campaign and condemned the remarks.
So... What is this guy's FReeper handle?
There was that GOP insider trading scandal in the first election he won. Also, more than half the state is now Greater Atlanta. It’s not the state it once was, and Metro Atlanta isn’t what it used to be either.
Collins is to country to win. He would have to eat into the suburban vote and I just don’t see him doing it.
Is Georgia getting to be like Illinois, Oregon and Delaware, where one city controls the politics of the whole state?
“ Is Georgia getting to be like Illinois, Oregon and Delaware, where one city controls the politics of the whole state?”
Yeah, pretty much Fulton County. (spit)
He could pull a lot D votes with his antisemitism.
Kemp is the Chamber of Commerce guy and many voters are a bit suspicious of those folks.
I make the observation.
One could argue the CoC Pro-Business Coroporate Kemp types enshrined certain new standards in our society like gay marriage giving those who have religious convictions no ability to object or resist that societal change according to their convictions.
I think that applies to most blue states.
Sad but true. The best Republican governor we’ve had in my time was Zell Miller, a conservative Democrat. The only time in my life I ever voted Democrat.
