Fox News star Maria Bartiromo is out at the network
NPR | 09/03/26 | David Folkenflik

Longtime Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo is out at the network.

"We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter," a spokesperson said in a brief statement.

Bartiromo joined the network in 2014 after becoming a star at CNBC. At Fox Business and the Fox News Channel, she hosted "Mornings with Maria" and other shows bearing her name. The network is rebranding those shows and will have a rotating cast of anchors host them.

Bartiromo, like many other Fox News hosts, has been a staunch supporter of President Trump. Following his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Bartiromo helped spread unfounded theories of conspiracy fraud.

Her on-air comments — and those of guests she invited on her show — featured prominently in a defamation case against Fox brought by the voting technology company Dominion Voting Systems. Fox settled the case for more than $787 million just as the trial was about to begin.

Bartiromo also features heavily in a second multibillion dollar defamation suit filed by a voting software company against Fox News over its statements in the 2020 vote. Until Thursday, Bartiromo was the only individual defendant still working at the network.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

What the heck does that phrase mean? Does NPR no longer have editors?

That is the best example of “unbiased news reporting” by non-conservative mainstream news networks.

They just can’t resist putting adjectives in to ensure everyone knows it’s false.

(Hint: I don’t personally believe that theory, but the point is, they didn’t have to put those extra adjectives in; blatant skewing of opinion in there.)

I hope another network picks her up.

I think that is unlikely. She is loaded and I suspect she will do a podcast for something to do.

Did you just come back from a 15 year trip off the planet? The media has been using phrases like that for a long time now. Even though they are moronic phrases that make no logical sense. “Trump made unfounded claims” or “the widely debunked claim that the virus came from a lab”. You cannot prove a negative claim, but the media makes negative claims as truth every day.

This is agenda driven propaganda, not news. It’s been going on for a long time. It is almost 100% assuredly mandated by publishers whenever a claim or story is contrary to their agenda. The introduction of this kind of phrasing is not coincidentally when viewership/readership of mainstream media started its steep decline. Even Social Media was in on it, via deleting posts, accounts, stories, users, shadow-bans to limit circulation etc - at least up until Musk bought Twitter. But they still have their “debunked” and “unfounded” and “conspiracy” claims to throw at you.

News stopped being the news at least 20 years ago. It was not the news before then either but at least 15+ years ago you knew there was some bias but you also knew the media had an internal push and pull over what they published and how they wrote it up. Now there is not even an attempt to hide it. The reasonable minded people have been pushed out or quit or retired, replaced by brainwashed agenda driven people with “credentials” from a university to prove they’ve been properly indoctrinated. The groupthink mentality is strong most especially in left-leaning media but you’ll see it anywhere, any story where they want to be sure you don’t get the “wrong” idea.

They kind of pushed her away years ago as it is - to some early Sunday morning program. Not sure if she’s even a regular on Fox Business during weekdays since I cut the cord a few years ago. But she would still pop up in my youtube feed/rabbit holes. She was always straight with me.

I would guess it has less to do with her performance or opinions and more to do with Fox making realignments with business strategy.

LOL, no. I didn't mean the word "unfounded" -- I'm used to their biased adjectives.

I meant the "theories of conspiracy fraud" phrase. It's garbled nonsense.

"Conspiracy theories claiming fraud" might have worked better.

"Conspiracy theories claiming fraud that were later demonstrated to be true" would work even better.

I need new conspiracy theories -- all my old ones came true.

Yep, Fox “settled” just before trial for close to $800 million. They knew they’d lose far more than that at trial.

AI Overview

“Yes, Fox already paid the Dominion Voting Systems settlement in full back in April 2023. Settlement Details:

The Payout: Fox paid $787.5 million to resolve the landmark defamation lawsuit.

When it Happened: The agreement was finalized on April 18, 2023, just as the trial was set to begin.

No On-Air Apology: The deal did not force Fox to issue an on-air retraction or apology, though the network acknowledged the court’s rulings that its broadcast claims about Dominion were false.”

Both the LA Times and Variety already reports up about her involvement in the vote machine debacle:

“Bartiromo had fallen out of favor at Fox News due to the legal headaches caused by statements made on her programs. But the breaking point may have been her sharing of a company e-mail with President Trump, according to a person familiar with the matter. When asked about the email, a Fox News representative referred to the company’s statement.

Bartiromo, who was earning around $6 million a year, was anchor of the daily Fox Business Network program “Mornings with Maria,” which starting Friday will be called “Mornings with Fox Business.” Her weekend program “Sunday Morning Futures” will continue with fill-in hosts until a permanent replacement is named.

Maria Bartiromo joined Fox News in 2014 after a 20 year run at CNBC.

What happened to Maria Bartiromo? The Trump election fraud story has the TV news biz asking
Dec. 23, 2020

Bartiromo was one of the network’s staunchest believers in President Trump’s false accusations of voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election won by Joe Biden. The claims, many of them perpetuated on Bartiromo’s Sunday program, resulted in Fox News paying a $787.5 million settlement to Dominion Voting Systems which sued the network for defamation.’

NEW: The Maria Bartiromo backstory, per multiple sources familiar....

Maria Bartiromo wanted to pursue a story related to China and 2020 election voting conspiracies... a major sensitivity for the network given its Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits.

A Fox Business executive sent a text to Fox Business producers informing them that that story could not go to air.

Bartiromo took a screen shot of the guidance and sent it to senior White House officials.

Fox News leadership learned about that after receiving a call from the White House, which they viewed as a fireable offense.

Fox pulled Bartiromo from air after Aug. 9. She was fired today. I have also learned that her executive producer Patrick Ignozzi was also fired after the annoucnement.

Maria had resigned her contract with Fox last February.
