Virginia Attorney General creates unit to challenge federal actions

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones is creating a four-attorney unit dedicated to challenging actions by the Trump administration that his office says exceed federal authority or threaten the commonwealth’s interests.

The Federal Accountability Unit will work across the Office of the Solicitor General and Civil Litigation Division and will be led by Deputy Solicitor General Megan Keenan.

Jones’ office said the unit will give the Attorney General’s Office permanent staff dedicated to identifying federal actions, responding to them and pursuing litigation.

“I have a fundamental responsibility as Attorney General to defend the Commonwealth and protect Virginians when the federal government exceeds its authority,” Jones said.

The unit will focus on issues including federal funding, elections, health care, immigration, environmental protections, consumer issues, constitutional rights, tariffs and other economic policies.

Like Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones the members of the four-attorney unit must have stage 4 TDS metastasis.

Serious TDS. That and protecting their corruption.

While I generally believe in states’ rights, this is not one of those cases.

Welcome to the Supremacy Clause b######. Ask Governor George Wallace and JFK (you’ll need an Ouija board) how that plays out.

Interesting. I wonder how Dummies will respond when Republican states do the same to thwart Dummy federal actions? It might be a new front in the federalism/anti-federalism struggle.

This low IQ, murder-minded AG thinks that state lawfair will work against Pres. Trump.

It's not a bad thing that they are advocating for states' rights because once the Democrats take over the White House, it'll be easier for Governors like DeSantis or Kemp to push back.

Especially if the Democrats have established the precedent.

Let's face it, there's a decent chance that AOC will win in 2028 (or later).

The exact thing happens when spores of mold hide themselves in the dirt between the cracks, momentarily avoiding death in a swirl of bleach or other cleansing agent.

All those naive people said Jay Jones was finished in the election and even that Spanberger would push him out of this nomination. His social media statements about yearning for killing Republicans and saving ammo to put into the skull of one were said to be career enders.

Not true. He won and is still strutting around doing evil.

Another: Don’t worry about Mamdani who is just a name in the long list of primary choices to head to the Mayor’s race finals and he will be seen as a radical extremist who has no hope of ending up the nominee, let alone the Mayor. Nine ranked choice candidates, several with high name recognition and strong party backing.

I almost wish I were naive like innocent people around. I was first called “cynical” by a teacher in the fourth grade.

I would posit that the voters of Virginia are stupider than those of NYC. The odious former gov. of NY, Cuomo, broke his word and ran, causing a three way race. If he had hadn’t, NYC would be in the 2nd term of Adams.

Virginia voters have no excuse for electing a psychopath....

President Trump wants to return education and emergency response to the states.

Why not have your new Federal Accountability Unit focus on transitioning that?

Yeah, this is a case of “orangemanbad” just because they don’t like his policies, not because they are worried about the Constitution. They are just trying to protect their gravy train.

Where were these guys when the 55-mph speed limit was implemented nationwide? Western states with long wide-open lonely higheays were threatened with massive loss of highway funds. Ditto as to raising the drinking age from 18 to 21.

The drinking age (as well as age of consent) were always seen as a state issue until liberals got control of the Federal purse strings.

“A bad case of TDS.”

No, it is a good example of the democrats willing and knowing how to fight for their agenda.

If only Republican governors and Attorneys General could learn how to do so. But Republicans tend to be gutless, ball-less, spineless, and brainless.
