A dog eating meat out of a street vendor’s bag before it was served to customers. Cockroaches crawling out of a food truck. Mice scurrying beside open salsa. Raw meat baking unrefrigerated in the heat. People urinating around cooking equipment.
These are just a handful of the stomach-churning allegations listed in a staggering 662-page dossier of 9,746 public health complaints about street food vendors filed across Los Angeles County from 2023 until early 2026.
The disgusting details, obtained by the California Post through a public records request, emerge as LA Mayor Karen Bass ordered the LAPD this week to stop issuing criminal citations to street vendors who flout the rules.
The move will give un-permitted food carts free reign across the city, potentially letting the conditions get even worse.
The complaints uncovered by the Post, lodged with the LA County Department of Public Health, disturbingly offer little clue as to any action taken in response to the sickening alleged discoveries.
For example, at a taco stand near Hawthorne Boulevard, a complainant stated workers had nowhere to wash their hands and weren’t changing gloves.
“There was also a dog eating meat from the bag and the guy still continued to serve the meat from that bag,” the complaint stated.
The case was simply marked as “closed.”
Near LAX, another complainant reported open salsa and condiments beside trash cans as mice ran nearby.
That complaint was designated “canceled.”

Disgusting. I just had a nectarine (that I of course washed first). The more I read and the more stories I hear the more skeptical I am of eating out - anywhere.
Hey, if people can crap and piss on the streets at large , why can’t “food” truck serve tainted food? It is all in the keeping of a theme of come to LA and see if you can survive!

Dirty leaders, dirty food, homelessness, rats, cockroaches, typhus. What’s not to like? What could go wrong?
I have become a great fan of glue boards to catch small critters.
If you have pets, they can’t be placed where pets can step on them.
If the Vendors are openly breaking the law, can’t LAPD refuse to follow illegal orders? Oh, never mind. Communists are in charge.
Make your own food. Street vendors are doing the job Americans won’t.
Saw the photos of some of these so called “vendors” on X. Filthy, foul, gross. Urine and poop on the streets.
America can never be a good place again as long as we allow the 3rd world to take over our cities.
One can only imagine the bacteria, parasites, viruses, brewing in that food.
Food like that should be served at the next DNC convention.

Liberal 'law' is a spider's web to catch big spiders (and doesn't) and in the meantime... every other kind of spider gets past the web, too. Nothing and no one at ANY level of criminality is held to laws or guidelines! Leaders have arbitrarily decided what is worth prosecuting and what can be overlooked! It's how Liberals see government.
BTW - Don't all communities have a 'health department' to oversee who is licensed to serve food and to enforce standards!

I remember the stories my fellow highschoolers talking with glee about the things they did to customer’s food at McDonalds’s and Burger King. I never eat there unless I can watch them make the food. (I’d go into details, but not pretty.)
The law obeying, regulation paying restaurant owners with brick and motor establishments should be filing class action lawsuits against that POS Bass and the city.
Part of our society has already collapsed to Early Medieval conditions.

When a state goes feral bad things can be expected to happen.
Street vending is third world crap and should not be allowed in a civilized society, especially when restaurants are required to comply with dozens of rules including food prep, cleanliness, employment laws, ADA, etc.
Not to worry though? I heard somewhere that all cultures are equal.
As long as only Democrats are eating at these food trucks, this is fine. LOL!
