President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the U.S. Navy has cleared all remaining mines from international waters in the Strait of Hormuz, while warning Iran that any attempt to deploy new mines will draw an immediate military response.
Iran placed mines in the strategically critical waterway during its ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, disrupting maritime traffic through one of the world’s most important energy corridors.
“I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Actually, Trump said the Navy said all the mines are clear. Trump made that distinction. He knows its importance.
He also mentions that Space Force will enforce no new mines. I’m guessing they can see with a high resolution. I’m guessing it’s for at least the next 47 years

I hope this is true but I have reason to be skeptical of this claim.

Iran is not Russia. Russia is a big nation (144 million - the largest by landmass), with a wide range of domestic R&D, industry and manufacturing. They were built up as a world power post WWII and can domestically produce most of their military hardware. They have deep economic ties and where others are dependent on them for resources or even food. Russia produces alone 2.5 times what Iran does in oil, BUT they also control/influence some others who are also oil producers. Iran is not in that boat.
If we are able to cut Iran out (other Middle East nations, Euro's), the economic war we hyped up regards Russia which had been mostly a flop, will be effective with Iran.

I am sure, on the agenda was Iran for us and Ukraine for Russia.
If we can get Russia to back out of Iran, that would be incredibly damaging for them. The problem is, when Ukraine started, and we backed Ukraine, Russia was caught short and Iran backed them up, they have formed a sort of alliance. I do not know how deep that is, if agreements were signed, promises made. From Russia's perspective, should they really betray Iran, considering that Trump will be out in 2 years? The US changes course constantly (literally every new administration), promises (No NATO East expansion) and even treaties (Ballistic Missile Treaty) mean nothing. I seriously doubt Russia is willing to drop Iran outright. The promises made today are liabilities for the next US administration that often looks for ways around them and the Russians now this about us.

I suspect we went to Russia with a realistic “limited scope” in what we are offering, i.e. we will stop providing Intel for Ukraine, if they stop backing Iran with Intel. That would explain why we sent Ratcliffe.
