IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY)– The Port of Iberia is already seeing interest from companies looking to position themselves near SpaceX’s newly announced project in Vermilion Parish, and port leaders believe that could translate into new investment and jobs across Acadiana.
Port of Iberia Executive Director Craig Romero said companies from across the country have been contacting the port for roughly a year, even before the SpaceX project was officially announced.
“We’ve had a number of companies from all parts of the United States call, big companies that are calling, inquiring during the last 12 months,” Romero said. “They just want to locate us close in close proximity to the project site so that they can supply them with certain material, if you will, to construct the project.”

When I read “Iberia” I wondered why Musk would invest in a place (re-)destined for Muslim control...Iberian Peninsula being Spain and Portugal.
Glad it’s Louisiana where they can juice those rockets with hot sauce for that extra ‘umph’.

That’s just not a big deal if you build for it.
I’ve sat on many an oil rig during a hurricane. We did send “non-essential” personnel home (which was basically nobody) and partially shut in, but it was largely business as usual.
So.... What’s the investor Freeper view on SpaceX? No analyst I listen to is paying it much attention. I’m trying to decide on the right time to buy. A couple of weeks ago it was $104, today $140.
I’m sure there will be a lot of Chicom companies setting up shop and our lowlifes in government will allow it.
No kidding, Elon Musk is saying when the space port is fully built it will have 10 launch pads capable of up to 10 launches per day, 10 of those huge rockets blasting off daily will be an incredible achievement
I think Louisiana is an underrated state! I saw Iberia and I thought it was Louisiana, because my bank before it merged, was New Iberia.
