Gas prices hit record highs for August as Ukraine, Iran conflicts drive costs up

The national average price of gasoline stood at $4.05 a gallon Monday, the highest ever recorded this late in the calendar year, as escalating geopolitical conflicts on two fronts threaten to push prices even higher heading into the Labor Day weekend.

In Washington, drivers are paying more than $5 a gallon throughout much of the state, well above the national average tracked by fuel price service GasBuddy.

The price surge comes as President Donald Trump announced plans to launch what he described as "the most crushing economic operation" against Iran, adding fresh uncertainty to global oil markets already strained by the effective disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

awwww, when it hits S5.00 a gallon for regular like it did during that Biden regime then Yahoo can have a fit over it. Like they care. Just trying to stir up more hate. it’s what the leftwing medias do. Nothing good come from them with President Trump in office. it’s sick and they are sickening. shun all the leftwing medias. think for yourselves don’t let the medias do your thinking for you.

Also in WA state, $5 is common, locally I can get it for $4.79. My former work vehicle gets about 17MPG, and my daughters live in Alabama ..really far away, and one in Port Orchard 70 miles one way. It literally costs 45 dollars for a 4 hour round trip. Usually put 180 miles on, on the trip, going to see old friends etc.

“WHAT’S A FEW CENTS Mr. Trump”? Not seeing family, or having to buy a better mileage car at 73 and disabled.

Why did President Trump halt the war?
Progress has been nil since he stopped prosecuting the war.

this issue alone could lose us the mid terms - not only gas and diesel, but people filling up their heating oil tanks for the winter are going to be in for a shock.

Heating oil is up 81.6% in the past year. 🚀

Gee. How come we never hear from the same sources and the same posters on this forum about how our energy costs went up and up during the Biden Administration due to policies meant to do just that?

Some people say "Oh, that's not true. You lie." What? These mental midgets will say these things did't actually happen under Biden, that they didn't try to destroy the energy sector to FORCE us to stop using oil and coal in favor of (puke) "Renewabes"::

And that doesn't even take into account Leftist mental defectives who wanted to outlaw gas stoves and the use of gas in new construction.

Very curious.

I just got my gas bill. I am expected to pay another $300 above and beyond what I paid last year.

But we never heard a peep from these same posters and sources on that. Only on what is happening under Trump's Administration in which prices have gone up due to his efforts to protect this country, not because he intentionally wanted to destroy the energy sector.

All you people out there (not you, alaskamomma) who want to post every article they can from the likes of Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Axios, Politico, et al can go pound sand.

Very rarely is it this crystal clear whose fault gas prices are, with such a straight line right to an individual. You can scream about Biden refusing to drill ANWR or whatever till the cows come home, this is something even the most apathetic, low information voter out there can tell: The policy that led to the higher gas prices (Iran War) and whose bright idea it was (Trump).

Grok:

No, U.S. national average gas prices have not hit all-time record highs.

But remember, the left wants to get fuel prices up to the European levels (the $7-$10 per gallon range) to force limitations on driving. Voting them in will guarantee higher prices.

Blue states should be glad that prices are high. They HATE “fossil fuels.” They tell us that higher prices means people won’t use as much. You cannot fix retarded.

$3.39 here. It just dropped 10 cents a couple days ago. I have no idea if that will last.

A big factor is refineries getting whacked in Russia. They are actually having to import significantly from India, and still have major problems with shortages. Petroleum transport in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov has also been hit hard.

The mark of a true scoundrel seeking a last refuge in a discussion is the one who posts a graph to "support" a stupid argument, and they cut the graph off to make it look like their point is true.

They (and the people that push things that way) are what Twain referred to when he popularized the phrase "Lies, damned lies, and statistics"

In league with the Leftist idiots who argue anthropogenic climate change by looking at their graph to see the best place to cut it off to make their worthless point (as was done with the idiotic example above to make it look like everything was hunky-dory before Trump came on the scene to "ruin" a good thing...as exemplified in the graph above)

An honest portrayal of real data would look more like this graph below, not that leftist POS graph segment above:

Little bit different message there isn't it? A more HONEST and TRUTHFUL portrayal of data and circumstances there, isn't it?
