TUCSON — When Sen. Mark Kelly set out for a day of midterm campaigning, it only took about 15 minutes for someone to address the elephant in the room.
“We need to make sure that we've got leaders in the United States Senate, in Congress and potentially in the White House as well,” Secretary of State Adrian Fontes said, coughing toward Kelly. “Who can actually understand what we need to do and support veterans. I’m gonna nudge him a little bit. I have to,” Fontes added as the crowd cheered.
Kelly, legs crossed, smiled from under his U.S. Navy baseball hat and didn’t say a word.
Kelly has been on a cross-country sprint aimed at supporting Democrats ahead of the pivotal midterm election in November.
But despite Kelly’s focus on the midterms, some like Fontes were looking further ahead. It’s no secret that Kelly is considering a bid for the White House in 2028.
“I’m thinking about it,” Kelly said in an interview with The Arizona Republic. “It's a decision that requires a lot of reflection and a lot of thought.”
Kelly compared running for president to being an entirely different sport than running for Senate, which he’s successfully done twice in battleground Arizona. But the future of the country is on his mind, especially when President Donald Trump’s second term ends in 2029.
“I've got two grandkids. I worry about the future for them and for the future for this nation,” Kelly said.

Please recall when Donald Trump accused Mark Kelly (and five other Lefie-left "lawmakers") of "seditious behavior" and "treason." Mister Kelly urged those in uniform to refuse orders if they thought the orders were illegal.
The hoped for chaos and mutinies among our service persons never happened, but it shows just how much human fungi like Kelly (who parades his military and astronaut service like a streaker) puts Dem lust for power and control ahead of our Country's security and well being.

Back when Bob Dole ran for president, there was a quote - I forget who said it - about Senators who run for president. It was something like “these senators are around a lot of presidents and they think that the presidents are idiots. And the senators say to themselves, ‘I can do that.” And the next thing you know, they are running for president.”
